U.S. 66
Once upon a time, there was a road called Route 66.  Everybody wanted to drive this road.  Nat King Cole sang a song about it, and two men drove a Corvette on Route 66, searching for new adventures.  And then the Interstates killed Route 66.

Well, that's what they'd like you to think.  But there are still many parts of Route 66 that are still navigable, such as the ones in Arizona and Oklahoma.  For one, I'm all for bringing back the number that America fell in love with.  It's a good thing that the Chicago-to-Los Angeles route is getting a historic designation, but we'd all like to see it return as a regular route.

Even if that means building new stretches and/or upgrading existing ones parallelling I-55, I-44, I-40, I-15 and I-10, then so be it.  Anything to get the fabled Route 66 back again!
