Tips For Comforting a Crying Baby: 1. Try to stay calm yourself. 2. Reassure your baby by holding him/her physically. 3. Find the rhythm your baby likes best when you rock him/her. 4.Encourage sucking, especially his/her own fist or fingers. 5. Swaddling, or wrapping snugly, helps prevent an infant under two months old from startling him/herself with jerking movement. 6. Giving a baby a massage with a little baby oil before his/her usual crying time might help avoid the stress that may lead to crying. 7. Give the baby a warm bath, or take one together. 8. Make the baby's surroundings less stimulating. Darken the room, turn off the tv or radio, etc. 9. Put the baby in the front carrier on your body, and go for a walk. The rhythm and physical closeness may comfort him/her. 10. Give your baby a ride in a wind-up swing. Laying you baby tummy-down across your knees and gently patting his/her back may help if he/she has gas. 11. Take your baby for a ride in the car or in a stroller. 12. Some babies like the persistent humming of a fan or dishwasher or other appliances. These sounds may lull your baby to sleep. 13. Play some soft, soothing music or sing a lullaby. 14. Give the baby to a spouse, so he/she can deal with it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tip For Taking Birth Announcement Photos: 1. Take several pictures of your baby, some awake and some while sleeping. Sleeping poses look more angelic while awake poses look more playful. 2. Keep your baby's outfit simple. Too many layers can make your baby look lost in the clothes. 3. Use a pastel baby blanket, or light colored sheet as the background. Avoid bold, busy patterns. 4. Hands near the face look sweet. 5. Center your baby's face in the photo. |
