DAMITA JO I don't have it yet, but everyone who does have it says it's BoMb, so go out and cop yo'self a copy. Janet Jackson is the best.

This AM, I was listening to the Hot Morning Mess on 99.5. I'm sorry, but Mark has this obsession with Diana Degarmo from American Idol. WTH?! She sounds like she screams, as opposed to singing. I'm so not down with that. And last night her hair was high. That upset me.

It's rainy in DC today, but the drive into the city wasn't so bad. It was actually livable. It was almost devoid of any road rage from my part RIGHT UP UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. This old betch in front of me was driving like 10 MPH in a 30 MPH zone. She almost made me miss the light. Thank goodness for passing lanes, right?!

Nothing going on in my mean mind right now. I'm just here at work, ready to tackle the day. Oh who am I kidding? I'd rather be doing something else. But what do I have lined up this boring-boring day besides listening to the droned-out and annoying FOBby voice of my boss?! (damn, that was so mean. i didn't mean that. wait, yes i did.)

On the menu:
--->for b'fast . . . wheat toast with cream cheese
--->for lunch . . . strawberry/banana yogurt and an apple
--->for dinner . . . haven't thought that much ahead. a salad, perhaps?

I'm officially on grazing mode. Yesterday's food-fest with the officemates was TRiFE.

SLEEPY MONSTER GOT ME YESTERDAY I guess the lack-of-sleep I had this past weekend caught up with me yesterday. Cause after work, I came home and CRASHED... I haven't done that in a long time. But it was a good thing. I feel rested. I'm ready to take on the day. BRING IT.

OK, just kidding. Don't bring it. The weather outside sucks, and it's making me feel lethargic. I hate this time of the year when the weather starts to tease you: warm weather one day, cold weather the next. It's like the time of year that the DC area suffers from extreme weather schizophrenia.

I'M FEENIN' FOR: Boba (or bubble tea), pho, chocolate w/almonds, a caramel macchiatto OR a mint mocha... and fries
I WANNA WATCH: Van Helsing, The Punisher, and - to a certain extent - Hell Boy
I WANNA GO TO: the mall OR to Zara in G-town. Oh, and I want to go to ALDO. In other words, I just want to go buy something. Easter is in two weeks... I can do this.
I WANNA DRINK: a vodka tonic w/Kettle One. Eh... alcoholic cravings in the AM? I've got issues.

EEEw. I've decided that ---despite the denial--- I am MEAN. I am such a mean person. Mean, mean, mean. Mean. (i can't help it.)

THE 10 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT 'NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE.' Yes, I love it. It makes me laugh. It's been in my DVD player every night for the past week. I don't know why, but it makes me happy. I love spoofs, especially if they're good ones. Here's why I love it so much:

10. They spoof almost every teen movie that's been made... ALMOST.

9. The bathroom scene where the geeks are stuck in the ventilation shaft, and the girl is having all sorts of fart problems.

8. The old woman spoofing Drew Barrymore's 'Josie Grossie,' except for the kissing part. That made me sick, actually.

7. The cruelest girl in the world. She's the bestest.

6. Jamie Pressley. I could say 'enough said' just because, but she plays the perfect bitch. I love the 'perfect' bitch. Yep.

5. Lacey Chabert spoofin' her 'ate' Jennifer Love Hewitt's role from 'Can't Hardly Wait...'

4. The naked girl. AHAHAH.

3. The part with Molly Ringwald at the end. She was like the queen of 80s teen flicks, for those young bucks who don't know.

2. The cheerleading try outs, and the girl with Turret's.

and... the NUMBER 1 reason I love 'Not Another Teen Movie' is ---

1. THE CHEERLEADING SCENE when the North Compton Wildcats told Jamie Pressley to bring it. PLUS the ghetto routine afterwards. LOVE IT TO DEATH.

Oh yeah. If you've eaten at McDonald's, have you noticed their new (well, it's not so new anymore...) "I'm lovin' it..." campaign?! Well, on the drink cup, it has "I'm lovin' it" in different languages, and in the corner it says:

"LOVE KO 'TO."

AHAHAH. Reppin' for my Filipinos, I see. Go ahead, Ronald.

WINDY WEEKEND. It's windy this weekend, and Wendel is feenin' for FUNNEL CAKE! Just say "NO" to fatness, kids. And learning is half the battle...

Finally --- a Saturday morning that I didn't wake-up like an hour before it got dark. Since January, my Friday nights have been L-O-N-G and drawn out. Fun times, tho. I'd either be out late somewhere, or hanging out late with my crew. I usually wouldn't get to sleep until about 4 or 5AM Saturday morning...hence the late day awakenings. But last night was chill... I got to sleep earlier than usual, and I got up at a decent time, too. WONderful.

As I lay awake, on my bed this morning, I switched on the radio and heard a commercial for the DVD release of Honey. OK, so it's not exactly the blockbuster hit I had hoped it to be. But Jessica Alba is in it. That's all that matters. Honey Daniels is the ish.

And now I'm half-listening to the TV as Superfriends is on. It's so freakin' circa 1970s. I'm just blown at how everyone can understand the warbled language of that purple monkey, Gleek; or whatever he's called... "Geek?!" I thought it was just the Wonder Twins who understood that thing, but apparently so do Wonder Woman, Batman and Robin. How absolutely Scooby-Doo-SLASH-Astro is that?! Whatever. You've gotta love yourself some Hanna Barbera cartoons.

So it's past noon. The gym awaits me, as does 5 o'clock Mass. And tonight, it's off to Murali Lounge. It's the last night before it closes down. The poor place got sold... and I doubt they're gonna continue their weekend "club nights" at the Pentagon Row location. RIGHT. Tonight we celebrate Kuya Raf's b-day. HaPpY BiRtHdaY, to my Godbro...!

Live. Love. EAT! (says Wolfgang Puck)

LEAVIN' ON A JET PLANE This weekend, many of my friends are off to places obviously warmer than here. So to all you people on planes en route to Cali --- I HATE YOU. All you peeps already in Vegas --- I HATE YOU. But never fear, cause WEN will get his. And I did, yesterday. AHAHA...

*drum roll*

I got my plane ticket for San Francisco yesterday for a whopping $207.90! NOT $300.00! NOT $275.00! NOT EVEN $235.00 - which is what my mom/dad paid for their tickets (each) to LA for July. Hell, I didn't even pay $208.00 - although I might as well have, right?! "Keep a dime for goodluck..." Hellz yeah, I paid $207.90! TWO-OH-SEVEN-freakin'-NINETY! I haven't been this happy since I scored a ticket to San Fran a few years back, last minute, for the Memorial Day weekend mind you, for $168.00. Now, $168.00 isn't exactly $207.90. Shoot, that extra $40 or so could've gone towards a new pair of shoes. But shoot, I'll take $207.90 ANY day.

I think I've ranted and raved enough on that issue. I'm going to San Fran in May --the weekend before my b-day. It's my Godsister's graduation, and I promised her I'd go out there for it, so being the nice kuya that I am...I'm going. It'll be a quick one, though. I arrive there Thursday night, have all day Friday and Saturday (the graduation is Friday afternoon), and then I'm outta there 6:30AM on Sunday. I know, I know... It's too quick, which totally justifies the $207.90-ticket. But if things work out, I won't have to be counting peanuts in order to keep tryin' to travel to the west coast much longer. If I make it to LA, then I'll have to start scrounging around to find the funds to visit HOME every so often. AHAHAAH. In due time... In due time...

Anyway. It's Friday. That's cause enough for a celebration. Too bad I have this gross head cold. *eh* I guess it's good that I'm home, with my friends all gone, this weekend.

Happy b-day to mah n*gga, MIKE MUNOZ! Today is his BIRTHDAY! *guitar-strumming-really-hard* It's MY birthday, too (NOT)! *guitar-strumming-really-hard-like-a-rock-star*

HOW 'BOUT THAT, AI?! American Idol 3... WHAT a show, ey?! This is, indeed, the BEST Top 12 since the original Top 10 a few years back. I think that this group blows last year's group out of the water. There were a few "EHs," but nothing terrible. For the most part, it was a great show. I'm just not feelin' the Frank Sinatra-esque guy. I'm not. But I'm sure the rest of America will. I'm not feelin' the football player either. Out of the girls, I'm not feelin' Leah Labelle - or whatever her name is. She's a cute girl, but not all that great. Camille Velasco is holdin' back A LOT. She's being too shy, I think. Jasmine, Latoya, Jennifer, Fantasia ---they BROUGHT IT like they were s'posed to.

It's a pretty good season. It'll be interesting to see how this all pans out. But America's tastes seem to get jaded each year... making it more of a popularity contest than a talent one. The first season was with Nikki McKibbin. She was aight, but she shouldn't have gone as far as she did. Season two was a toss-up between the Marine dude and Carmen Rasmussen. EW. 'Nuff said. This season, it's definitely the crooner. It'll suck though cause in the long run I have a feeling that a talented, yet timid, person (like Camille) will get the shaft cause America will be doting on this 16-year-old guy's "innocence" and "youth." PUH-lease... Get him outta there. NOW.

In the meantime, just wait and see the drama unfold. Wait and see how things work out in the drama that is American Idol.

SLACKKKKKER!! I'm such a slacker, I know. I can't help it. I don't feel like doing anything. Rain makes me feel lazy. PLUS I'm still hella sore from my workout on Sunday. My legs are in pain. PAIN, I SAY! PAIN! I can't even get to the treadmill/elliptical cause I'm in such pain. *EH* It's my fault though cause I don't stretch much. AHAHAHA.

WEN'S TOP 10 LIST: DC RESTAURANTS Everyone knows that I'm a total FOODer. A "FOODer" is exactly what you believe it to be. FOOD-FOOD-FOOD = YUM-YUM-YUM. "FOODers" are also known as "fat kids." To all my fat kids, throw yo' handz up at me!

Here is my current TOP 10 list of area restaurants; all of which make me feel happy. They range from the totally inexpensive to moderately pricey. My list is generally about the great food, impeccable service, and an overall pleasing experience. Of course, my TOP 10 very-well changes from time-to-time. However, at the moment, these are my very favorite... (they all come highly recommended!)

10) MISS SAIGON 3057 M Street, NW Washington, DC
Miss Saigon is possibly an ode to the Broadway smash hit musical. The restaurant surfaced at about the time the musical gained notoriety on the Big White Way. It's a little hideaway tucked along the busy M St. corridor - a place full of restaurants, cafes, and shops. It's one of Georgetown's best among ethnic eateries, and with very affordable prices -- it's sure to hit the spot. For starters, try the Viet Combo, which includes spring rolls, garden rolls, beef on a skewer, shrimp toast, and fried wontons. It offers a little bit of everything. The Ha-Noi Beef Soup, aka pho, isn't as great as the hole-in-the-wall pho houses will serve, but it serves its purpose. But the prized flavors at this little restaurant come with their caramelized dishes. Most notable: Caramel Shrimps w/Lemon Grass.

9) BUCCA DI BEPPO 1825 Connecticut Avenue, NW Washington, DC
So it's a national chain restaurant. So what?! So is Maggiano's. What makes Bucca a cut above is its no-nonsense homestyle feel. It's almost as if you're in a Little Italy restaurant when you come into this place, no matter what part of the country you're at. They serve their dishes family style: thick, hearty, and plentiful. It's a great place to enjoy the flavors of Italian cuisine with the obnoxious sounds of people just having a grand ol' time. It's loud, it's boisterous, and it's definitely fun. It's also a place where you can be comfortably casual. Favorites include: Linguine Fruitti di Mare, or the seafood linguine. Rigatoni Positano is a great dish of chicken, eggplant, and mozzarella. Buca Chicken Vesuvio is a great chicken dish garnished with spicy sausage. And the Pork Chops Siciliano won't disappoint. Cap the meal off with classic Tiramisu, and you'll be one happy paisan!

8) LA TASCA 2900 Wilson Boulevard Arlington, VA
La Tasca is perhaps my favorite restaurant for Spanish tapas. It personally edges out DC-favorite, Jaleo, by a mile. All your typical small dishes are there for your enjoyment, but you must have the paella as the highlight of your meal.

7) POSTE BRASSERIE 555 8th Street, NW Washington, DC
Located in the Hotel Monaco in the old Tarrif Building in DC's Penn Quarter, Poste Brasserie is an ode to chic and modern dining. It's menu is modern American, and changes almost daily. Clearly standing out in my mind is the Black Grouper with Yukon Gold Potato Gnocchi. It's a great place to unwind after a busy day in the office, with minimalist decor, and modern furnishings. The restaurant, itself, is a total artform.

6) FIREFLY 1310 New Hampshire Avenue, NW Washington, DC
This is another restaurant of the Kimpton Group (along with Poste), and this one's located alongside the quaint Hotel Madera off DuPont Circle. It's a small restaurant that offers big flavors. For starters, try their Steamed Mussels, which are delicately simmered in a garlic broth. Dinner is great with the Braised Short Ribs with Red Wine and Roasted Vegetables. The restaurant boasts a lounge area, a small - but effective - bar, and a lighted tree in the middle of the space, which evokes a feeling of natural serenity and cozyness.

5) LAURIOL PLAZA 1835 18th Street, NW Washington, DC
DC cuisine isn't complete without a great experience of wonderfully prepared Tex-Mex cuisine. Inexpensive, but not overtly obnoxious like mainstream Tex-Mex chains (Chevy's comes to mind here...), Lauriol Plaza fuses class, flavors, and elegance in their presentation, service, and tastes. All of your Tex-Mex favorites are here, and are usually offered via specific "plates." Ideally, you may want to partake in the El Paso Deluxe if it's your first time. With this dish you'll enjoy one shredded beef enchilada, a ground beef taco, and a chicken tamale. If you want to mix your fare with a little chicken, then opt for the Laredo Plate, which offers a chicken taco and enchilada with a beef enchilada. Sangria is the drink of choice at this Adams Morgan favorite. Call-in reservations, or get there early on weekends. The place packs up extremely fast. Same deal with their sister restaurant, Cactus Cantina on Wisconsin Avenue, NW.

4) SWEETWATER TAVERN 3066 Gatehouse Plaza Falls Church, VA
One of DC's own belongs to the Great American Restaurants family, anchored by the Carlyle restaurant (formerly "Carlyle Grand Cafe") in Shirlington. While the Carlyle continues to please its customers, it's the sister restaurant, Sweetwater Tavern, that continues to impress. Doubling up as a restaurant and brewery, it offers some of the best flavors and tastes in moderately priced steaks. Notable is their Drunken Rib Eye Steak, which is Black Angus Beef marinated in their own Great American Pale Ale. It's sauteed with mushrooms and served with a loaded baked potato and a salad. If lighter fare is on your agenda, then try the Grilled Tuna & Mixed Greens Salad: sesame crusted tuna drizzled with a cilantro ginger sauce & served over mixed greens tossed with citrus vinaigrette, dates and pine nuts. For starters, enjoy the Smoked Chicken Con Queso dip.

3) WOO LAE OAK 1500 South Joyce Street Arlington, VA
Perhaps one of the area's best kept Korean treasures. It's a chain originating from Seoul, Korea with outlets in NYC, LA, Chicago, and here in the DC area. Woo Lae Oak is a wonderful blend of traditional Korean dining experiences with modern trappings. An experience at Woo Lae is best started with seasoned favorites as Pa Jun, a pancake made with scallions, seafood, and green peppers, and Chap Chae, the Koreans' answer to lo mein. Korean cuisine is most known for their BBQ --- which you're able to cook at your own pace right at your table. Try Kal Bi, the boneless beef short rib cubes, or the famous Bul Go Ki, or thinly sliced marinated beef. A traditional favorite dinner entree: Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap, shredded beef and veggies on rice topped with a fried egg in a hot stoneware pot with hot pepper paste on the side. Woo Lae's prices are moderate to expensive, but the experience is worth every cent spent. The service is courteous and careful, with a serious dose of Korean hospitality and care.

2) DC COAST The Tower Building 1401 K Street, NW Washington, DC
Seafood in the District abounds, but classic seafood has never been better than at DC Coast. With chain favorites such as McCormick & Schmick's and The Oceanaire Seafood Room, it may seem hard for others to hold their own in a city that eats as well as their politicians do, but DC Coast is an ode to this triumph. Offering a swank dining experience, DC Coast imbibes its visitors with simple, yet daunting, flavors that will leave you coming back for more. Personal favorites include the Buffalo Crispy Fried Oysters for starters (served with shaved fennel slaw, Maytag blue cheese and hot sauce butter) and the Seared Pepper Crusted Tuna (served with a crisp risotto cake, sauteed pea tendrils, pickled sweet and sour onions, and a spicy carrot broth). The restaurant also offers a "power" bar for casual dining, happy hours, and mingling.

1) NEYLA 3206 N Street, NW Washington, DC
Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors are my current taste du jour, and this has got to be one of the most absolutely wonderful places for it. Neyla is quietly situated off busy Wisconsin Avenue, in the heart of Georgetown in the District. It's not really a big restaurant, which in fact adds to its quaintness. But it's gorgeously decorated, truly evoking a Mediterranean feel. It offers plush seating at the bar, and at booths along a side wall. Tables abound, as well as a huge "community" dining table, which imposes the center of the area. Smells from the kitchen abound, and the service is truly top-notch. Every experience I've had at Neyla has warranted more than a 25% gratuity. For starters, the Tomato Mozzarella Salad is great. It offers a mix of black figs, cherry tomatos, black olives tossed with a variety of greens. It is then drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette and basil oil -- simple and healthy, yet very flavorful. If you're going to share and sample the best of the Mediterranean, the go for their mezza - full-scale or petite. They all come with hommus, fattoush, chankleech, falafel, chicken shawarma, baba ghannoug, lahmajeen and kabis. The specialty, however, is their grilled dishes. For a variety, once again, try the Mixed Grill: a combination of chicken shish taouk, beef kebab, and beef kafta. Neyla will offer you an experience like no other.

HONORABLE MENTION: BUTTERFIELD 9 600 14th Street, NW Washington, DC
Butterfield 9 is one of Downtown DC’s hottest restaurants that evokes the "elegance of restaurants of a bygone era." It offers contemporary American cuisine with a classic twist. It's one of DC's best fine dining restaurants.

So there you have it, kids. Wen's very own TOP 10 LIST OF DC RESTAURANTS. Hope you'll make your way to these places soon! In the meantime, I'm hungry... AHAHAH!

DC - I LOVE YOU, BUT DAMN! I am very TRIFED about the water situation in DC, and in some of the surrounding suburbs of MD and VA. Lead levels HIGH?! WTH?! And the thing is, they've pretty much known this for a while now, but they haven't done ANYTHING about it?! Ummm, c'mon DC. I'ma need you to get a move on. That is just TRIFE. It's one thing to be "ghetto," but to be outright TRIFE is just not right.

Fix it up, Mayor Williams. Fix it up.

THURSDAY, March 4, 2004
EMMM---WHAT THE F*@%, AMERICA?! I am baffled by the outcome of last night's American Idol results show. How the hell did little-orphan-annie-boy get the highest amount of votes?! PLEASE UNDERSTAND, ladies and gentlemen of the United States... American Idol is NOT a popularity show, nor is it a contest to choose who you think is "cute" or whatever. Dude who made it through last night is NOT an AMERICAN IDOL. NO HE IS NOT. He isn't even remotely CLOSE to being one. Even that song he sang... God bless Billy Joel's heart, but duder RUINED THE SONG. And he got the highest percentage of votes for the evening?!

America, what kind of game are you trying to pull here?! AMEN to Jasmine's win, but c'mon now! Leave the crooner types to rock the 50 and above demographics. I am jaded. First of all, America is FAT. AMEN to McDonald's for getting rid of their SuperSized crap. All you fatties NEED not be sad. This is a blessing for you. LOSE WEIGHT. Secondly, America is jaded about their superiority complex over the damn universe. GET OVER IT. And NOW - America is just clueless and obviously STYLEless with their choice of red-haired ARCHIE boy to the Top 12 of American Idol 3. I used to proud to be an American, but lately I'm just embarrassed about it more than anything. First President Bush, now this travesty on American Idol. I am in definite need of a Percoset.

WEDNESDAY, March 3, 2004
WHEN IS 'OLD' TOO 'OLD?' Morning phone calls are usually the best. Especially when they're from your friends. Well, at least MOST of my friends provide me with wonderful AM conversations that literally rock my world. For instance. This AM, a friend calls (i won't divulge names here - ahaha) because he/she just had a blower of an experience with their mom. Their mom, or Auntie, is one of those who are your typical Filipina moms. She's totally old school. Wait, she's Ilocano AND old school. What a combination. Well, she's older... probably already categorized as a "senior citizen." She's a dear ol' lady, though. She serves at church where she heard all this hullabaloo about Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. So yeah, Auntie is interested to see it, and she wants to see it SOON. So she asks her child, this AM mind you, about it: "Have you seen it?" "Is it showing up there (meaning up in ghetto Rivertown, where old school Filipino parents hardly go so they don't even understand the ghettoness of it all)?" "How much is it?" "If it's sold out, what can I do?" "Can I call them?" AHAHAHAAHAHAHAAH! Freakin' hilarious questions. Just the way that my friend described the 20 questions PLUS all of her answers to them... classic. Sheer classic. Poor Auntie probably hasn't seen a movie since it last cost $3.00 - REGULAR PRICE. I'm so serious. So now my friend fears for his/her mother as she tries to go watch The Passion. My friend was busy trying to call his/her nieces to see if they could possibly go with their lola to see the movie...just to help the process along. AHAHAHA. Poor friend. Poor Auntie. This would make for a great episode of Seinfeld.

I'm just afraid that Auntie will go into that theater and put on her sunglasses OVER her regular glasses because of the glare. She's been known to do that at home, in the dark, as she watches TV. O-M-G.

TUESDAY, March 2, 2004 (a little later...)
TWIN PEAKS EXPERIENCE. I'm totally having a Twin Peaks experience. I'm on campus right now. That's right... you read that correctly. I'm at UMd with the Godsis. We're watching a little show at the PAC - that's Performing Arts Center to you non-knowin'... or, more cleverly, all you ALUMNI. Yes, the PAC was merely a "plan" when I was at my last semester. I actually remember them starting to prepare the grounds for it back then. But now it's this big, great theatrical monster. It's so cool. I'm in a freakin' library with a computer lab here. How hi-tech is this?! I'm so jealous. The PAC is made by the same people who made the Kennedy Center in DC, I believe. Interesting... So anyway. I parked my car in Lot 1, and I feel so weird. I got out of the car, nice weather and all, and I felt like I was still a part of this campus. I was walking on the sidewalk that I walked many times over back during my undergrad days. To my right I looked up at Byrd Stadium to see the big Maryland logo brightly painted. Before it was merely just words: "MARYLAND." Now campus is all bomb-ass. Shit like that always happens after I leave something. Damn.

Wow. I'm speechless. I am so exhilirated, though. Watching a show at the new PAC! It's a small theater where the show will be, though, but who cares. It's a show nonetheless. I'm excited to see it. I'm just all excited to be on campus. OK, let the moment pass now. I'll want to go home in like 5 minutes.

TUESDAY, March 2, 2004
DO YOU THINK I'M CRAZY?! I know my dog thinks that I'm crazy. Every day, right before I leave the house (for work), I stop in front of Bubby - who sits all princess-like on her dog throne (*ahem* her bed) - and I start to sing this song:

"Boobie-doobie-doo, where are you? You've got some work to do now!"

I repeat it like 2 or 3 times before I roll my eyes and head out the door. Sometimes, when I come home from work, I'll sing it to her again. Each time I do it, she just looks at me like I'm an idiot. I swear she thinks I'm crazy. I love pugs. They're so damn snobby. Bubby is just as bad as I am when it comes to rollin' her eyes, turning her head, and minding her own business.

Yeah, Bubby. I taught you well.

OK - so the other night I had a dream that I went to Arlene and Mike's place to play with their puppy... SO HOW WEIRD WAS THAT?!

It's only Tuesday?! Damn.

MONDAY, March 1, 2004
DAMN, IT'S MARCH ALREADY?! The months keep on comin'... Damn. I never relalized just how quickly time passes. These days it's almost as if time passes like water. It's freakin' crazy! Well, March is now here... Hopefully that's a positive nod to the coming of Spring. Hope that happens sooner than later. The only down side to all this Spring-ness?! ALLERGIES. Not that it matters since I think I'm prone to year-round allergies, but the Spring ones are probably some of the worst. I'm getting scurred thinking about it.

So yeah, last night was the first time I've sat through the entire Oscars show in a L-O-N-G time. What the hell is wrong with me?! Anyway. LORD OF THE RINGS very much deserved the "clean sweep" they had last night. With the last installation, it's pretty inevitable that they'd get all the awards that they've deserved since the first one came out three years ago. I'm all for my girl, Charlize Theron, getting a third nod for her role in MONSTER. First, the Golden Globe, the the SAG award, and now the Oscar?! (wait, she did win the SAG award, right?!) It wasn't as solid for the men. The Golden Globe went to Bill Murray for LOST IN TRANSLATION, an award I thought was too presitigious for him. Not that he's a bad actor, but the role he played in LIT was just not all that. Sorry, Bill. Johnny Depp, who is probably one of my favorite male actors of all time, got the nods of his peers during the SAG Awards for his portrayal of Cap'n Jack in THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL. It's said that the SAG award is always the more meaningful of the bunch, along with Oscar - of course, because it is an award that is voted on by actors themselves. Sean Penn, another one of my favorite male actors, finally got his due with his Oscar win last night for his role in MYSTIC RIVER. I was hoping that the award, last night, would go to any of the three: Johnny Depp, Sean Penn, and/or Jude Law. All great actors, and much more complex roles than Bill Murray's. EH. I'm still grossed out by the Bill Murray-Scarlett Johansson pairing. That was not cool. Very UNcool.

Did I mention the fact that everyone seemed to be dressed VERY WELL last night?! Jennifer Garner, Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger... all SMASHING. During the pre-show, a lot of actresses noted that they were wearing original Lhuillier designs. Big ups to the Filipina designer who is now outfitting the stars for the red carpet.

Billy Crystal - phenomenal job as always...

Ahhh... the Oscars.
