She was adjudged Bb. Pilipinas-World last March 2003. There was some doubt in sending her to Sanya, China for this year's Miss World pageant. But somehow, she had the right formula, and came away as 3rd Runner-up at the recently concluded pageant. Mafae Yunon made waves in China. The 106 contestants were down-sized FIRST to 20 TOP girls. This was later broken down to just 5, and Mafae was one of the lucky ones alongside Misses INDIA, IRELAND, CHINA, and CANADA. Following in her aunt's footsteps, Mafae took the pageant by storm. (Her aunt is Miss Universe alumn, Desiree Verdadero; a 4th runner-up placer at MU in the 80s) So it is with much pride that I present Maria Rafaela "Mafae" Yunon as the focus of the DAILYdish SPOTlight for December.
