-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03/09/99: REF 208AB: Clogs are a fun shoe The previous writter is correct clogs are a fun shoe. They can slip off at the wrong time. They can slip off on the stairs, on the sidewalk or on any uneven surface when you are not careful. Sometimes when you slip them off at a party, or at thhe office, your goods friends may hide them on you. just for fun. If we were concerned about these problems we would not wear clogs. Wear clogs to have fun. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03/03/99: REF 208AA: Clogs are a fun shoe and are probably best worn when in a carefree mood I am a 32 year old female and have usually had a pair of clogs in my wardrobe since high school. I am sure that does not qualify me as expert on clogs, but I will still offer an OPINION. Clogs are a fun shoe and are probably best worn when in a carefree mood. At least in my case, the clogs are going to come off at some point, either intentionally or unintentionally. If one is concerned about having a shoe come off I would suggest that clogs are not the shoes for you.. I have only once "lost" (as in never got it back) a clog. Since I am still here to post this message I obviously survived the embarrassment (smile). Have some fun and let the clogs land where they may. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01/02/99: REF 208Z: I did reach the other sky but my Scholl sandal did not Back in high school I was crossing the street when I had to hurry for a car approached. I did reach the other sky but my Scholl sandal did not - it died beneath the car's wheels. So I had to `slap-slop` back home. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01/06/99: REF 208Y: I used to have a very old pair of Scholl which I wore until the strap was broken Last weekend I was wearing my worn-out pair of Bastad when I started a conversation with a nice young girl in the lift. I must be carried away by our conversation that when I stepped out of the lift one clog fell off just when the doors were closing. Thankfully the girl pressed the "Open" button and picked up my lost clog for me. She said "The leather is broken. You better buy yourself a new pair". I told her that although a long slit in the leather makes the clog very loose, I have been wearing them for a long time and find them very comfortable. To this she said " I can understand that. I used to have a very old pair of Scholl which I wore until the strap was broken." which definitely made my day. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/21/98: REF 208X: Take a bit of sandpaper and lightly rub side to side on the sole just past the arch of the foot The advice I would give if you are having trouble hanging on to your clogs is to take a bit of sandpaper and lightly rub side to side on the sole just past the arch of the foot. That will roughen up the wood a bit and it will not want to slide off too easily. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/17/98: REF 208W: When I lost a clog 2 years ago I almost lost a leg When I lost a clog 2 years ago I almost lost a leg. The clog slipped off walking down the stairs. It fell down and I fell behind. I found myself with three fractures of my right leg and a ruined ankle-bone. The doctors thought it to be stiff but after 5 months on ctrutches I regained complete mobility. 2 weeks later I started wearing clogs again - but take them off climping stairs EVERYTIME!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/17/98: REF 208V: If a clog slips off while you are near strangers, they will often help you get it back Has anybody noticed that if a clog slips off while you are near strangers, they will often help you get it back. My clog slipped of while climbing stairs the other day. A complete stranger picked it up and carried it up 10 steps to give it back to me. When you lose a clog a clog with friends around, they will often kick it further away. Or in some cases they will try to hide the clog or else play keep away with it. In the mean time you are getting your sock or in in some cases both socks dirty while you chase them to get you clogs back. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/14/98: REF 208U: I guess your difficulty with adjusting to wearing your clogs with socks will disappear after a while To the writer of 208S: I guess your difficulty with adjusting to wearing your clogs with socks will disappear after a while. It takes getting used to the grip motion of the foot in clogs which is even more difficult when wearing thin socks. On the other hand, if it works well when you wear them barefoot, just continue to wear them barefoot. I find no difficulty wearing mine barefoot even in cold weather. The wood and the rolling motion with its effect of good blood circulation keep my feet at a very comfortable temperature. In addition, wearing clogs barefoot is much better in the rain. Soggy socks are no fun, but bare feet and clogs usually dry very fast. And then there is another factor: bare feet in clogs are very appealing, especially in winter. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/14/98: REF 208T: It is not easy to maintain a grip on the clogs if you are wearing socks or pantyhose It is not easy to maintain a grip on the clogs if you are wearing socks or pantyhose, especially if the leather upper of the clogs has been stretched with wear. I found that if I didn't flex my ankle that much for the lift-off it would be easier to keep my clogs on my feet. However, once in a while I would forget and a clog would fall off while I was walking up stairs or getting into a car. Then I would have no alternative but to hop back and slip my foot back into the clog. My friends also find this very funny and on one occasion one of them kicked my clog away after I lost it on a subway platform and I was very embarrassed as I have to walk in my socks to pick it up. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/10/98: REF 208S: Now because of the slippery hose, the clogs keep slipping off I bought my first pair of clogs this summer. They never slipped off while I wore them bare foot. Now that the cold weather is here, I have been wearing them with tights, pantyhose and thin socks. Now because of the slippery hose, the clogs keep slipping off. I have lostthem on stairs, getting into cars, even walking on a flat surface they have come off. My boy friend and my girl friends think this is funny. Is there a way to keep them on with tights and pantyhose? I am getting tired of having to hop around trying to recover my lost clog.. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/07/98: REF 208R: I looked for my clogs and could not find them Last Friday night, I went to the local club for a few beers with my girl friends. We met these really cute guys that asked us to dance. I tried to dance in my clogs. However, they are very loose when I wear them with tights. Since they kept slipping off, i left them by the side of the dance floor and danced in my tights. When it was time to go home, I looked for my clogs and could not fine them. We looked all over . Nobody could fine them. When my friends dropped me off at my apartment, one of them reached into their large pocketbook and handed me my clogs. One of them had taken them as a joke. I did not think it was very funny. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 05/30/98: REF 208Q: The last time I went to an amusement park, I also wore clogs The last time I went to an amusement park, I also wore clogs. This was a mistake as many of the rides were the type where your clogs could fly off as you were swung up and down and around. When I went on these rides I would take my clogs off and hand them to a friend so that I would not lose them. The problem was that my white socks became very dirty as I walked on and off the rides in my socks. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 05/22/98: REF 208P: I always take off my clogs before I do the rides Referring to #208O I always take off my clogs before I do the rides before I am sure that the clogs will fly off my feet and am afraid that they may hit someone below. I was once in an amusement park in Japan where they even have wire baskets at the rides where you can put your shoes which is just great. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 05/21/98: REF 208O: Be careful when you go to amusement parks Be careful when you go to amusement parks. I went to a park last weekend which had a ride where you sit on a swing type seat with your feet dangling in the air. The ride swings you up and around at a very high rate of speed. When i got on the ride I was not not thinking about my clogs. Before the ride was over both my clogs had been flipped off of my feet. Neither my friend nor I could figure out where they landed. I spent the rest of the day in my whtie socks, which by the end of the day where very dirty. Fortunately they did not develop any holes in them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03/18/98: REF 208N: I was walking up a short flight of steps last weekend when my Bastad fell off I was walking up a short flight of steps in a shopping mall last weekend when my Bastad fell off and tumbled down the steps. I had no alternative but to walk down the steps in my socks, picked up the clog and slipped my foot into it again. This was the second time that I lost my clog walking upstairs. My Bastad has become very loose because the leather upper has been stretched and the wooden sole is very slippery in my socks. Just like everyone has said, losing the clog is part of the game. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/07/97: REF 208N: Once lost a clog at the beach Once lost a clog at the beach. Had to go home barefoot, no big thing. But I had to buy 2 new for noone could sell me a single clog. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/03/97: REF 208M: Recently I lost my clogs for a day Recently I lost my clogs for a day. I like to be comfotablte and walk around in my stocking feet. Last week I had lunch with my friend in amother office in the building that I work in. During lunch I slipped by clogs off. Unfortunately when I went back to my office I forgot to put them back on. By time I realized my mistake, the other office had closed for the day. I had to go home in my socks. The next morning I went back to get my clogs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/02/97: REF 208L: One of my nightmares is to lose my clogs on a croweded subway platform Referring to #208K 30cm is almost a foot! I presume your right foot and ankle must be fully submerged in the mud when you lost your clog. Didn't you try to search for the clog at the spot where you lost it? I would be very sad if I lose one of my favourable pair of clogs for good. One of my nightmare in wearing clogs is to lose my clogs on a croweded subway platform while I am being pushed by the crowd into the subway car. I just cannot imagine standing inside the cabin without a clog which is still lying on the platform. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/01/97: REF 208K: Suddenly I have lost my right clog in the mud This saturday, after a big rain,I was with my blacks clogs in the country and I had to walk in the mud. There was a lot of mud,and sudenly I have lost my right clog in the mud. It was 30 centimeters deep and I had not rediscover my clog. So I had to go barefoot in the country them on the road . Have you had the same incident? What do you think of this? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/28/97: REF 208I: It would be nice if you could write more about losing your clogs at parties and dance clubs It would be nice if you could write more about losing your clogs at parties and dance clubs. Your account of the unfortunate experience at the rock concert makes good reading. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/26/97: REF 208H: In response to what happen after I lost my clog at a concert In response to what happen after I lost my clog at a concert. When I lost one clog that was never found, I put my other clog in my pocket. It looks weird to see a person walking around with one clog on and one clogs off. I was wearing heavy socks, so it was not a problem. After the concert, I was careful not to step in spilt drinks and I was careful to avoid the heavy crowds where my feet could get stepped on. The walk back to the car was ok. It was the end of March and the temperature was still in the 40s. The sidewalk was dry and sandy from the salt and sand that had been put on it during the winter because of the ice and snow, Even though I had heavy socks on, my feet were getting cold by time we reached the car. On the way home we stopped at a club for some drinks and dancing. The door man knew us well enough that he ignored the fact that I was in my socks. Besides at this club I have been on the dance floor many times in my socks or stockings. I dance better without shoes. This experience did not stop me from wearing clogs. I could write books about the times that I have misplaced my clogs at parties or dance clubs. Every other time I got both clogs back before I went home. The incident at the concert was the first and only time that I lost a clog for good. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/23/97: REF 208G: How did you go home after the concert in only one clog? Ref 208F How did you go home after the concert in only one clog? Did this experience deter you from wearing clogs in the future? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/21/97: REF 208F: I lost a clog at a rock concert I lost a clog at a rock concert. We were near the doors early. When the doors to the arena open there was a big push from behind. I was crushed between a bundh of people. When my fist clog fell off there was no way I could stop to try to pick it up. The crowd was pushing me and being a little over 5 ft and 100 lbs there was no way I could stop from being pushed. When the second clog fell off I was able to guess where it would end up and I did retrieve it before the concert started. I never did find the first clog. Like eveybody as noted, losing clogs is part of the game. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/17/97: REF 208E: I was walking up the stairs to the upper deck of a double-decker and one of my clogs suddenly fell off I do agree with Ref. 208D that losing my clogs is part of wearing clogs, no matter how careful you are with them. I remember once I was walking up the stairs to the upper deck of a double-decker and one of my clogs suddenly fell off and landed on the top of the shoes of the guy who was behind me. I was so embarrassed then as I had to turn on the narrow stairway and slip my foot back into the clog which the gentleman had picked up and held out for me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/15/97: REF 208D: Losing clogs is a part of wearing clogs Losing clogs is a part of wearing clogs. It is going to happen no matter how careful you are. When I wear sox or clogs they somethimes slip off at the wrong time. You have to hope that the ground is not wet or cold when you have to walk back a couple of steps to get your clog. Aslo it helps if you friend would retrive it for you. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/09/97: REF 208C: I still remember being behind a gal wearing Scholls on the stairs and it fell off, tumbling down the steps I'm a little uncomfortable with the phrase "lose my clogs" which sounds like you didn't get it back, as opposed to "fell off...". I still remember being behind a gal wearing Scholls on the stairs in school and it fell off, tumbling down the steps. I recall her quickly getting it back before I could get to touch/pet it (I'd love to have felt the immediate warmth from her!). During boring classes, gals would swing their feet around and occasionally their clogs would fall off. I loved that sound of such playful teasing feet! Any footwear that with no strap around the back will fall off, particularly things like the rubber thongs! No need to accuse clogs or Scholls of falling off more. If anything, things with proper toe-grips fall off LESS! I'll admit that it took me a few years to "graduate" to wearing sandals with no strap around the back since I feared them slipping off too easily. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/08/97: REF 208B: I once saw a girl who lost one of her clogs on the dancefloor I once saw a girl in a disco dancing in clogs who lost one of her clogs on the dancefloor. I'm still sorry that I haven't been quick enough to give her the clog back and it was done by some other guy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/07/97: REF 208A: I sometimes lose my clogs when I am walking up or down stairs I sometimes lose my clogs when I am walking up or down stairs because they have become very loose with wear and my feet are sliding inside them. I wonder if we can start some discussions on when and how we lose our clogs or, even more easily, exercise sandels or when they are knocked off when someone stepped on our open heels, and how we retrieve them afterwards. Do you feel embarrased when something like this happen to you?
