Goody Loose Shoes Discussion

Among other things you ask what style of shoe I prefer and what style comes off most easily. I wear most styles of shoe. Which shoes I wear on any day depend on my mood, the weather and a host of other things. Styles I do not wear are styles with ankle straps or straps over the instep, lace up shoes or any shoe with a high front. To look at what style of shoe lends itself to coming off, we need to look at what keeps a shoe on.
Take this shoe for example. The shape and stiffness of the heel cup holds the heel in place in the shoe, provided that it retains its shape and rigidity and that the she fits well enough for the heel cup to do its job. If the shoe is too big the heel is not held securely. Secondly the front of the shoe is very high on the instep, this locks the shoe to the foot.
Compare this shoe. Same comments about the heel cup, but see how much lower the front is. Basically the shoe is held by that part of the vamp which is above the toes. The lower towards the toes the vamp becomes the less help it is at keeping the shoe on. Note also the difference between the heels of the two shoes. Big and chunky v. slim. One will easily get caught the other won’t.
Now look at this shoe. There is no heel cup at all. All that holds this on is the vamp. This shoe has a high vamp so will stay on fairly well.
The straps of these shoes are quite wide and will hold the foot more securely than narrower straps.v
This shoe has an additional strap higher up the foot so the shoe will be held securely. Imagine the second strap not being there, then the shoe would be much more difficult to keep on.
Ballerinas, like these, are low fronted, sometimes very low. Unless the heel cup grips well, they will come off very easily. A low heeled shoe will come off more easily than a high heeled one. Slingbacks come off easily when the strap slips from the heel. My preference is for any low fronted shoe. Stretched or with a worn heel cup they will come off very easily.
