A Doctor, a Lawyer and an Engineer are arrested
and sentenced to death by guillotine
The doctor is the first to be taken. "Which way up do
you want to be executed," he is asked, "Face-up or face-down?"
"I'm a doctor, I know that face-up, I'll die faster. I'll go in face up."
He is put in, the cord is released, and the blade stops stuck a few
inches short of his neck. His captors think this is a miracle and release him.

The lawyer is next. "I'm a lawyer- I konw that if i go face up and the
blade stops again there'll be a precedent and they'll have to let
me go." So he goes in face-up and the same thing happens.

The engineer is last. He too goes in face-up. He is looking up at the
guillotine as the executioner is about to release the cord.
"Wait a minute," he calls out, " I think I can see what the problem is."
