PREPARING THE ROOM

I fill a book box with weather books for the students to look at during free time.

I put a water cycle bulletin board up in the classroom with a colorful scene showing the water cycle.

An example of a bulletin board.

The picture is from (The Hydrologic Cycle).

I label as I teach. Monday I will introduce the term precipitation and I will staple the term on the bulletin board next to the rain. Each day I will add the term as each concept is introduced. On the bulletin board I add the terms, evaporation, condensation and heat.

Terms

Precipitation is the process by which the condensed water in the clouds returns to the earth. Depending on the temperature, precipitation can be as rain, snow, ice or hail.

Evaporation is the process where water changes from a liquid to a gas. When water vapor (or droplets) come together in the sky, they form clouds.

Condensation is the process by which water changes from a gas to a solid or liquid.

Heat is the state of being hot; high temperature; warmth. Heat is a form of energy.
