The Tourist
Eliza is up for another horror flick again. The Tourist. Here's what Paul of KINDRED Board has shared.

From an article:
Eliza is currently preparing THE TOURIST, which was written by Daniel Pyne (THE SUM OF ALL FEARS, THE FIRM, PACIFIC HEIGHTS). Dan is directing this as a follow up to his film WHERE’S MARLOWE, which was released by Paramount Classics. Eliza Dushku (BRING IT ON) is attached to star.

InHollywood.com:
After seeing a story about a murderer on tabloid TV, a college student phones in a police report about a mysterious stranger in her town. The police investigation brings about the arrival of 2 rival news shows who invade the lives of the college student and the mysterious tourist.

Review: Release
By Windom Earle
Website

While I was bit busy with my life I would like to thank Dush for providing me some relevant news.

The Review
Well, good Lord! The thought had not even crossed my mind that Faith might show up in Sunnydale as a bit of a little bad. I’m not sure that she will, still, as the teaser for next week’s ep doesn’t even show Faith. Instead it shows a bad assed Willow. Oh yea, crossovers baby! So, I’ve been informed via email (thank you) about Angel not giving up on Faith and helping her choose to return to jail. Since I’ve been unable to acquire these episodes through the usual sources, I plan to read the original scripts sometime today. But, anyhoo. I now know why Faith was so gung ho about helping them bring Angelus in alive.

So, lets do a bit of an episode recap. As always, spoiler warnings apply, please keep your hands and feet inside the review at all times. Even if that sonic transducer does seduce you into climbing out. On the outside, thar be sarpents. Wesley and Faith return from Faith’s massive and brutal beating at the hands of the now recently deceased Beast. Faith, with a bit of her old personality returning, declines bandages and, well, help, proclaiming herself “five by five.” Then she proceeds to show her softer side by taking a shower and destroying the shower wall. Angelus, again hanging out in that bar, actually seems to have a bunch of friends. Someone cracks a joke about him and he threatens him brutally. All of a sudden, though, a deep (devilish?) voice begins to speak to him. Inside his head. Angelus is duly freaked out by this and argues with this voice, claiming to be the master of the beast, claiming that he has big plans for Angelus. A cut away reveals that this big bad voice is really sudden little (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it) bad Cordy. Angelus arrives, and he seems to be spending more and more time at the Hyperion, and messes with Fred, showing her a fake charm that he says will allow him to attack her even with the magic mojo. He’s bluffing, but Fred doesn’t realize it until he’s already stolen all their big important research info. On Angelus’ way out, Fred hits Lorne with a tranq gun effectively putting him down for the duration of the episode (a fine way to start your featured character status, eh? But applause applause for seeing our favorite non-frog green guy in the opening credits.) Connor makes an attempt to kill Angelus, but there’s a surprising twist, he can’t hit him due to the no demon violence spell. Raising some interesting questions about our just barely post-pubescent friend. Angelus high tails it into the courtyard where he runs smack into Wesley and Faith, instantly has Wesley hostage and taunts Faith some more. A seeming no win situation for Slayer 2: Electric Boogaloo. Luckily, Gunn rushes out, distracting Angelus just long enough to get him to use Wesley as a weapon. As quickly as he came, he’s gone. Fred blames herself, naturally, and Gunn comforts her. She tells him she wants to go back to the way things were, she misses him, they kiss. All of a sudden here I got some flashbacks to Buffy Season 2 where Giles and Jenny Calendar were back together for, what, a few hours before Angel decided to snap her neck and break our hearts. Meanwhile, Wesley scolds Faith for not taking her opportunity to kill Angelus, even if it meant his own death. Wesley is popping into deranged Watcher focus, suddenly, urging his former slayer to be ruthless to the point of ignoring all else and one wonders if Wes is loosing it. They go to the same demon bar which reminds me of how much I miss Willy, and try to get info out of an addict that likes to shoot up and then get fed on, giving the vampires a high too. She claims not to know anything until Wes stabs her in the shoulder with a stake and gets the info. Faith tells him he was out of line and then here it is, Wes railing on her for his torture, reminding her of who she was when last he saw her and tells her that her ruthlessness may be the only way to get Angelus. Who, meanwhile is at a museum, with reading glasses on, trying to figure out what the info he stole from Fred means. Big bad voice harasses him some more, threatening to return his soul if he doesn’t fall into line, and then Faith and Wes show up to do some battle in the scaffolding. Wes is out of the picture fast, but the battle between Faith and Angelus is quite monumental. It’s more quid pro quo than last week’s beast battle and thus a bit more exciting, all leading to the shocking moment where Angelus bites Faith. Executive Producer Joss Whedon credit.

Whew! Those endings could kill you. I bolted up and uttered a bit of gibberish like “Wajahaha?” and Fiancée Willow patted my shoulder and told me to lay down. I don’t believe she will be turned, though it sure would make an interesting twist when she jumps to Buffy on the 25th, wouldn’t it? So, let’s lay all our cards on the table. Issue 1, Connor’s demon-hood. Reminds me a lot of Buffy coming back wrong, something that I think everybody (or just Connor if this group shares the Scoobs habit of not revealing any important information at all to anyone) will worry and fret over but will ultimately turn out to be a red herring. Interesting about Cordy’s baby growing so fast, isn’t it, and I’ve given up on my warm and fuzzy fantasy that says she’s The First. As much as I’d like that to be true, she’s touched way too many people. That being said, though, I was very much intrigued by the suggestion that Lilah was played by The First last week when Wes was talking to himself. Hmm. That thought had crossed my mind.

Oh how I want this all to be true. It’s gearing up for something big, and the one spoiler I’ve allowed myself is the fact that Angel will be showing up on Buffy (other than that, my name is Windom and I’m a spoiler-holic, I’ve been spoiler free for one season now and isn’t it WONDERFUL?) So with Faith being attacked in prison with a bringer’s sword (we’ve all agreed that’s what that was, right?) and Angelus’ call to the Summers household to see if Buffy had trekked to LA. So now we need some answers, don’t we? We need to know what allowed the Scoobies to miss the fact that LA was shrouded in darkness. We need to know why (until next week at least, and here’s hoping this’ll answer it) no one from either location has bothered to contact the other asking for assistance. But we also need to know who’s stolen Giles for the last two eps of Buffy. Or, otherwise, where he’s been.

So, anyway, tonight’s episode, co-written by Steven DeKnight (who has written almost every ep this season) was quite rollicking. The fights, extensive and brutal and interesting, though the scaffolding, like last week’s factory/warehouse felt like another stock fight place, but oh well. My only concern is Angelus really seems like all bark and no bite. The Angelus we met in Buffy’s second season would’ve snapped Wesley’s neck in a heartbeat, (er, well, get Electric Girl back) since he obviously can kick Faith’s ass. Why wait only to be confronted at the museum? So he can prance around and deliver more of his “aren’t I bad?” proclamations. (Which I do love, don’t get me wrong) In any case, Eliza’s acting is top notch as always and her scenes with Wes after he stabbed that junkie were amazing. As were his moments in the same scene. Connor’s still whiney and I’m really starting to get annoyed with hidden evil Cordy, I want to see her come out of the demonic closet.

Another new ep next week and then we get Buffy back, if only for a while. God bless you, Joss! [Message Board]

Slay What?! Joss Whedon on Life After Buffy
Source INSIDER

TVGO: Let's talk about Eliza Dushku. Why was it so important to bring back rogue slayer Faith — and not just on Buffy, but on Angel, too?

Whedon: She had finished out as a character on Angel, and she'd talked, not knowing about the last season of Buffy, about doing Angel again, because she had fun. And I booked her for both, thinking she left us on Angel, so she should come back there and have some closure with that crew, then go back to Buffy for the end of the last season. And, because it is the last season, Faith should be a part of that. She's so much part of the history.

TVGO: The prospect of a Faith spinoff was awfully tantalizing. What happened there?

Whedon: Eliza's doing something else [the Fox pilot Heroine]. There was some talk of [a Faith spinoff], but she chose something else, and the talk stopped.

Update: Eliza as Alice?
Source The Film Force

Screenwriter John August sets the record straight on the film version of American McGee's Alice.

August wanted to clear up casting rumors that have included Natalie Portman and Eliza Dushku. He says, "It's a long ways away from casting, and any speculation is just fanboy fantasy."

McGee was quoted as saying, "I heard a rumor that Natalie Portman asked about the role. I think that'd be pretty cool." I seriously doubt Portman ever looked at this project, but Eliza Dushku would be pretty cool. Message Board

Again, thanks to Dush for the bulletin.

Losing Faith is an unsettling thought for `Angel' fan
By MELANIE McFARLAND
Seattle Post-Intelligencer

Thank you so much to Dush of KINDRED Message Board for feeding us this article. Read below.

Woe has beset the regular travelers of the Buffyverse.

First came the official but completely expected word from UPN last week that "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" would end May 20. But if that wasn't enough to ruin your future Tuesdays, there's the lingering fear that the show's low-rated spin-off, "Angel," might be dust come next fall.

Until then, our spirits are raised by the return of Faith tonight. One of two main villains in "Buffy's" third season, the highest rated of the series' run, Faith is best known as a reformed traitor who tried to kill the Slayer before doing penance in prison. Up and coming actress Eliza Dushku made her bad to the bone.

The rogue Slayer will be on "Angel" for three episodes before heading off to Sunnydale for a stakeout on "Buffy," currently airing in reruns. Without giving too much away, let's just say she gains an early parole.

After May, that's probably all we'll see of her until more news of creator Joss Whedon's spin-off emerges. Don't get your hopes up for "Faith the Vampire Slayer," though. Whedon's new show will not star Dushku, who has signed on to a drama pilot for Fox.

Too bad -- and not just for Faith fans. That pilot she's in is called "Heroine," and she'll play a woman who can go back in time and relive a single day. Tinker with the past, and the future is irrevocably altered for better or worse. Lives are saved; others are changed.

Sounds a little too familiar. Right?

That's because the whole traipse-back-in-time story line has been done to death. OK, so have cop, lawyer and doctor sagas, all of which TV keeps on cranking out for better or worse. But network TV has an especially iffy track record with its attempts at re-creating "Quantum Leaps." Recent contributions to the genre ("That Was Then," "Do Over," "Time Trax") tell us that time might not be on Dushku's side.

Of course, success or failure of any new show will be determined by the writing, at least in large part. "Heroine" could end up making Dushku Fox's biggest star. The new Jessica Alba.

Hmm.

Maybe sticking with Whedon and Faith, both known quantities to millions of fans, might have been the better call for Dushku.

I'm biased, of course. And I'll bet you'll be, too, after watching "Angel" tonight. It's one of the better episodes in a season that's already slapped us with a slew of surprises, a show that makes it clear Faith's potential as a central character begs for more exploration.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.[comments]

Side Dish
Storm of KINDRED Message Board has posted a cute interview of Charisma Carpenter.

Taken from E!Online, Charisma Carpenter's take on Eliza on Angel:
"I didn't get to work with her. But I did get to spend one day with all of us on set, and that was fun. We've worked together for years off and on, and she's going to be a big fat star. And let's just talk about her eyelashes for a minute--wench!"

Site Update
For those who have emailed me, I'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks for all the cool comments. In the meantime, I have updated some site's section.
