The
big Cubs machine cooled a little off during the latest sim,
but they remainedvery solid.
Alfonso
Soriano is on his way back, and he needs to be
because the team faces
The
Cubs didn’t get off to a good start, when they had their 5 game winning streak
snapped by the Philadelphia
Stars on May 13. Mark Redman lasted only 3.1 innings and
gave
up 6 runs.
The
Cubs recovered a day later, crushing the Stars 11-4, when Carlos Beltran went
4-for-5
with an homerun and 3 RBI’s,
and Chipper Jones added 3 hits and 4 RBI’s.
Then
the top of the Cubs rotation couldn’t prevent the Rebels of sweeping them in a
3
game series. It was the first sweep the Cubs allowed in the season.
In
the next series, the Cubs took 2 of 3 from the Stars, and took 3 of 4 from the
Outlaws.
In
the last game before the sim break, the Cubs were to
strong for the best team in the
MML.
The Angels lost 7-6 at Nike Field. Roy Oswalt was the winning pitcher, pitching
5
innings while allowing 5 runs. The Cubs magic 3 then closed the door on the
Angels, allowing only one more hit in the last 4 innings.
The
next sim will be a big test for this Cubs team,
because they have 6 meetings with the Washington Nationals. If the Cubs are
really
in contention, they can make a big
push right here.
