Cubs’ lead expands to 9,5 games

Edmonds off to a cold start in Leiden

By Ray Leonard / Leiden Cubs MML

Everything is going in the right direction for the Leiden Cubs. They are able to go 6-6 during

a tough sim schedule and expand their lead with 3,5 games. The Cubs took 3 of 5 from the

Pittsburgh Pirates and only won 3 of 8 from the Cincinnati Red Stockings. Jim Edmonds had

a tough start in Leiden.

Edmonds started his career in Leiden hitting only a .184 average with 2 homers and an

.273 On Base Percentage. Cubs number 3 starter Hideo Nomo also had a very bad sim, his ERA

is now up to a shocking 6.00. Richie Sexson is cooling off a bit, he belted 2 homers in the last

2 weeks, but is still leading the league with 24.

The Cubs have 9 more meetings with the Washington Nationals, and 3 meetings with the

Philadelphia Stars before the All Star Break arrives. If the Cubs are able to survive the next 2

weeks without to much damage, nobody is going to stop them in their push for a playoff spot.
