Closed Face Reel
These reels were very commonly used on the match fishing scene, but are not used as much today. I have used then from time to time and found them to be very good on rivers for trotting. The main difference between a fixed spool reel and a closed faced reel is the fact that a closed face reel does not have a bale arm, but has a push button on the spool to allow the line to be released, so in affect you can use this reel one handed, which is why the match angler like to use them, one had on the rod and reel, the other feeding loose feed in to the swim. We have two of these reels in the club tackle box and if anyone wishes to have a good, feel free. |
