As a child I had an Aunt & Uncle who owned a dairy in Moonee Ponds Victoria. They also owned
a liver spotted Dalmatian named 'Cherry.' In those days milk was delivered at night by horse & cart.
'Cherry' always accompanied the deliveries, sometimes sitting up beside the driver, but mostly trotting alongside the horse. She spent her days in the stables with the horses. She was very fit & lived to a great age. It was the highlight of my visits there to spend time with 'Cherry' & I vowed that one day I too would own such a lovely dog. I had to wait many years! But finally in 1973, I purchased a black spotted Dalmatian 'Beau', who after some months of attending shows became Aust. Ch. Brilor Beau Brummel, and what a proud day that was for me! At the time, little did I know what a consuming passion I had begun!
'Beau' lived with us until he was almost 16 years of age & more of a devoted companion one could ever wish for. He was the first of many very wonderful dogs to live with us. Of course, by now I was totally hooked on the show scene & the beautiful Dalmatian breed. That all seems so long ago, so much has happened during the thirty years of my involvement in the dog world - Club administration, Council membership, Judges training, Judging, Breeding, all facets of a very satisfying hobby which my husband Ivan & I have greatly enjoyed together over the years.
