"Battle of Nori Nanba"
Chapter 7
When Nori Nanba returns from the village, her father takes his things to the medical room to put them up, and Haru helps Nori put everything else away.
When he is finished, her father walks into the room where she and Haru are sitting. Haru, acting as if he is tired, stretches and says, "I think I will go lie down and take a nap I am a little tired."
Nori Nanba and her father, smile at him saying, “Sleep well." Knowing quite well he was just trying to make an excuse so, he could leave them alone, so they could talk.
"Well," her father says, "What has gone on while I was gone, and the very important questions you need to ask me?"
She smiles at her father, and starts rambling from the excitement of finally being able to talk to him, "I am so glad you are back I missed you so much and everything that has happened I do not know if you are going to believe me I am having a hard time believing it but it did happen."
"Slow down," her father said, "We have all afternoon, and there is no need to go so fast. I need to understand what you are saying, and if you keep up like this, I will get lost."
She laughs, "Sorry father I am just so happy you are back and we can finally talk."
"Well I am happy to be back as well, I missed you just as much." Her Father says, "So tell me what happened while I was away."
"Well," she said, "A group of travelers came into the village looking for a doctor for their hurt companion, he was hurt bad from getting into a fight with his brother." Nori started.
"His brother?" Her father asked.
"Yes, his older brother hates him." Nori replies.
"Do you know why?" Her father asks.
Nori Nanba hangs her head, "Because he is a half-breed."
Her father places his hand on hers, "Does that bother you knowing that you are a half-breed Nori?" He asks to her.
"No father, it does not. It bothers me that everyone else has to look down on us because we are half-breeds." Nori tells him, with her head still down.
"Well sweetie I have always told you there are people out there in this land that are very cruel." He says.
"I know you have father." Nori says looking up at him.
"You have been very lucky to have lived in this village all your life and everyone loved your mother and you, so you were never treated different." He tells her.
"Yes, father I know." Nori replies.
"So tell me, what happened to the young man that was hurt?" Her Father asks her.
"Well I took care of him and doctored his wounds, he was not as bad as Haru, but he still had a bad wound. He healed quite well, but with him being half demon, you can see why." Nori says.
"He is a demon?" Her father asked.
"No, he is a half-breed, half-human, and half-demon." She tells her father.
"Oh, all right then." He says.
"Inuyasha is his name and he and his friends stayed around for sometime. I think it had to do with me having him under my powers and because of his older brother, Lord Sesshomaru." She tells him.
"Therefore, this Sesshomaru is Inuyasha's older brother. Is he the same brother that tried to kill him or does he have two brothers?" Her father asked.
"Yes and no." She says, "Yes, he is the one that tried to kill him, and No, he does not have two brothers… Father!" She says, “You are making this quite difficult..."
"Oh I am sorry." He says, "I just want to know. Ok you tell the story and I will listen, and ask questions later."
"Thank you," She says.
"Now, as I was saying,” she starts again.
"Inuyasha and his friends were here and his brother, Sesshomaru came here looking for him. I think I put Lord Sesshomaru under my spell as well."
Her father was about to say something but she stopped him. "I believe this because Kagome and Sango told me that Lord Sesshomaru is a true killer, and he shows no mercy when it comes to life. He has a hatred for humans that is just unreal. Sesshomaru came into the house looking for Inuyasha, he and I made eye contact and for some strange reason I got in front of him and told him he should not be fighting with Inuyasha, he never hurt me. HOWEVER, he did say he would be back for me."
Her father now has a frightened look on his face. She looks at him saying, "What?"
"Has he been back?" Her father asks.
"Yes, he has and he did not hurt me then either.” Nori tells him.
"So tell me what happened?" He asked.
"He was in my room when I woke up the next morning. I tried to get away from him, but he was too quick for me. He grabbed me by my throat and held me against him. He asked me what I had done to him, I did not know, so I told him I did nothing and to please let me go." Nori said.
"Did he," Her father ask.
"Yes, after a few minutes. I turned to look at him, I do not know why I did, but something was pulling me to him, I needed to see him, I wanted to touch him." Nori said.
"Did you touch him?" He asks her.
"Yes, I did the first time he pulled away from me, but I tried again and he let me touch his face with my hand and he placed his hand over mine. He looked as if he needed it as bad as I did." Nori said smiling.
"What happened next?" Her father asked.
"He looked me in the eyes grabbed my wrist yelling NO and pushed me to the floor. When I looked up, he was gone. The weird thing about all of this is that I can feel him. Even now that he is gone, I can feel his hurt and confusion. I know I have him under my power some how, but I do not know how. Inuyasha, I believe is under it as well, but he is not as bad as Sesshomaru... I do not think." Nori said in a confused tone.
"Why do you say that Nori?" Her father asks.
"Because I cannot feel Inuyasha, like I can Sesshomaru. That is one reason why I had Inuyasha and the others leave here. I thought maybe if he was away from me, it might break the spell." Nori told him.
"Well sweetie, I am sorry to tell you this, but it does not work by sending them away, you will have to release them from it and if you ever bind someone to you… well that is a completely new problem there." He replied.
"Therefore, me sending Inuyasha away so he will not be around me will not work." Nori says with a sigh.
"No, it will not." Her father informed her.
Nori Nanba hangs her head, "What will I do if he returns father, I do not know how to reverse the spell and what about Lord Sesshomaru, I... I really…" Nori says pausing.
"You do not want to release him do you?" She looks at her father, "I do not know if I do or not. If I keep him under the spell, he will never know love... real love anyway and I want him to love me for me, not because of a spell." Nori says.
"He will love you and he will know true love even under the spell." Her father said.
"How can that be, if he has always hated and never known love, the spell is what makes him feel this, not me." Nori exclaims.
"No," her father says, “Your mother will have to explain it to you, but I remember your mother telling me how it works and the man knows love... true love and he will never forget it as long as he lives."
"What do you know of mother's powers?" She asked her father.
"Well everything I know you probably have already been told. I will tell you what... I will tell you what I know and if you already know about it you tell me and we will move on." Her father said.
"That would be great father." Nori tells him.
"All right then… your mother's powers not only lie in her eyes, but she can cast spells as well..." Nori cut him off saying.
"I knew her powers were in her eyes, but I did not know about the other."
"Your mother can cast a spell on someone no matter how far away they are..." Nori stops him again.
"How does she do that?"
“Well she needs something of theirs, like a piece of their clothing or their hair, which is how she does the binding spell as well." He replies.
"FATHER, what is the binding spell I keep hearing about, but no one will explain it to me." Nori exclaims.
"The binding spell is very dangerous... not only for the person it is cast upon, but for you as well you should never bind someone to you..." Her Father tells her.
"Yes, yes so I have heard, but what is it?" Nori asks again.
"It is where you can take someone and make them yours forever. This spell you need to talk to your mother about. I only know that if you bind someone to you, it cannot be reversed, and because of that it can come back on you three fold."
She looks at her father oddly, wondering what he meant by that. "What else do you know father?"
"Well, I know she has a connection with the people sh…"
"I love." Nori Nanba and her father look over at the door.
"Y... Yoshi!" Haruki exclaims.
"Yes Haruki it is I, I finally made it here to you and Nori." Her Mother says standing in the doorway.
Nori Nanba sitting there not moving, her father is up hugging and kissing her. She sits there watching them, they are so happy to see each other.
She is so beautiful, her almond shaped eyes are as blue as the sky, her skin is fair and looks as soft as silk, her thin shapely figure, her hair golden brown with strands of gold and copper, “I have never seen a woman more beautiful in my life.” Nori thinks.
"Nori, honey... Nori," her mother is calling to her.
"You’re more beautiful then I was told and what I pictured." Nori Nanba says to her mother.
Her mother smiles at her saying, "Well then you are just as beautiful, because you look just like me." As she puts her arms around Nori Nanba to give her a hug, she starts to cry, "You have grown into a beautiful woman, and my heart yearned for this day to come." Nori Nanba starts to cry as well.
Her mother released her telling her, "We have a lot of catching up to do, but I need to talk to your father first and then we can go."
"GO!" Nori and her father say.
"Yes, I cannot stay here it will not be safe for Nori or you Haruki. My fathers’ men watch this village very close." Yoshi tells them.
"I have to take Nori out of here to teach her what she needs to know about her powers..."
"But mother..." Nori exclaims.
"Please Nori go get your things you need and I will talk with your father." Nori Nanba, not sure what to do looks at her father.
As he tells her, "Do as your mother asks Nori Nanba."
"Yes father as you wish." Nori Nanba goes to get her things.
"I am sorry Haruki, but this is for the best we will all be safer this way and Nori will have less interruptions, she will be able to master her powers this way." Yoshi tells her.
As her father is still watching down the hall, "I know this Yoshi, but she has never been away from home. Where will you two go and how long will you be there?" He asks her.
"I found an old abandoned hut a few villages away from here, about a day and a half walk. It is perfect for us and we will be gone as long as it takes her to become comfortable with her powers." Yoshi tells him.
"But that could be for months." He says.
"I am hoping not, I am hoping she gets comfortable with them as quick as she did with what you taught her about medicine and if she is anything like me it will only be for 5 or 6 days." Yoshi replies.
"Do you think you and Nori will be safe from your fathers' men?" Haruki asks.
"As long as we stay out of the villages and stay at the hut we should be safe. I already have everything we need at the hut so that should not be a problem." Yoshi tells him.
Haruki looked sad, "What is wrong Haruki?" Yoshi asks him.
"I have lost you and now I am losing Nori Nanba." He replies.
"Losing Nori, how do you get that, she will return soon and you know I am always here for you if you need me." Yoshi told him.
"Yes," He says, "I know you will always be there for me but… Nori Nanba is changing from my little girl into a beautiful woman and she has fallen in love as well, soon she will be leaving to make a family of her own." Haruki tells Yoshi.
"Nori is in love?!" Yoshi exclaims.
"Yes, she has fallen in love with a demon..." her Father tells her Mother.
"A demon..." her Mother says.
"Yes, I do not think she plans on being with him thank the Gods, but she is in love with him." Haruki says.
"What if she does decide to be with him, do you have a problem with this Haruki?"
Haruki looks at Yoshi, "Yes I do, demons are evil and dangerous, and she could get hurt or even worse killed..." Yoshi Stops Haruki in mid sentence.
"Not all demons are evil my love. I have met many in my years of being down here and some are very nice and a few are my friends"
"But Yoshi, he is a demon." He exclaims.
"Haruki listen to yourself you are starting to sound like my father. If she loves him and he loves her in return then we should be happy for them, let’s not do to them what happened to us." Yoshi tells him.
"I know Yoshi, I am trying to keep an open mind about this, but I cannot help but worry she is all I have left of you and I do not want to lose her as well." He tells her.
"You will never lose us Haruki we will always be here for you when you need us." She tells him as Nori Nanba walks into the room; she looks at them saying, “I am done and ready to leave when you are Mother.”
As they all give a tearful good-bye, Nori Nanba tells her father, "Tell Sanako and Haru Good-bye for me please and I will see them soon."
"Yes sweetie I will." Nori Nanba and her mother start to walk off, as Nori Nanba turns, looking at her father, "I love you Father," as tears flow down her cheeks.
"I love you and I will see you soon," her father calls back to her.
