“Curse or God Sent” Chapter 9
‘Can We Truly Live’


Laney sits in her bed looking at Nori not sure what to say, when they both hear the door open to their room seeing Gojyo walk in to check on them.

“Well it is good to see you up and moving around Nori. Sanzo has been worried sick about you.” Gojyo tells her.

“I am doing fine Gojyo, why are you over here anyway?” Nori asks him.

“Well we are taking shifts on you, like I said Sanzo is worried about you. He is finally sleeping.” Gojyo tells her as he walks over and sits on her bed. “What are you two talking about?” Gojyo adds.

Laney and Nori look at one another and then back at Gojyo, “We are talking about leaving.” Nori tells him.

Gojyo laughs, “Leaving… to where may I ask… and if you leave Sanzo will find you Nori. I do not know what you did to him but he is so wrapped up in you, I think he would search to the ends of the earth for you.” Gojyo says chuckling.

“Well he cannot do that, I have things I need to take care of and he has things he has to take care of and our journeys are not on the same path. His is west and mine is to the east to Kanaan village.” Nori tells Gojyo.

“Nori…” Laney says.

Nori looks at Laney, “Yes…”

“I think we should wait and talk to Hakkai and Sanzo about this, after all they did they would help us out with it.” Laney says.

“It is our fight not theirs Laney, I do not want to get them involved any more then what they all ready are.” Nori tells her.

“I know how you feel Nori but…” Laney was cut off by Nori as she stands at the side of Laney’s bed.

“You are in love with Hakkai!!” Nori exclaims.

“Nori…” Laney started to say,

“I knew it… I knew it was a bad idea to get involved with them. I knew more would end up coming from this. Now I guess you do not want to end the curse since you have found someone to help you forget all your pain… NOW THAT YOU HAVE FOUND SOMEONE LIKE YOU, LANEY!!” Nori yells at her. Nori was walking toward the door of the room as she spoke to Laney.

“NO NORI!! That is not it, I am worried that we cannot get him to remove the curse and there will be a fight. Then what will we do, I know I cannot defeat a God… what about you Nori, can you defeat our Grandfather.” Laney asks her.

A look of shock came over Gojyo’s face, “You’re Grandfather?!” Gojyo exclaims.

“Yes our Grandfather.” Laney tells him looking over at him.

“I am not like you Laney my powers exceeds yours…” Nori was now cut off by Laney.

“Only because you are one of the Last Children and you know that with both curses and being half God it will not be long and it will have you dead… how do you know it will not kill you before you kill Grandfather.” Laney said.

“I do not know that, but I will give it hell until one of us is dead.” Nori said in an angered tone.

“So you are willing to die for NOTHING!!” Laney tells her.

“Nothing… is that what you see this as now. If I remember correctly this was your idea to go find Grandfather and when we kept coming to dead end roads I remember you say we should seek out the Sanzo Party and find out what they may know about him. Well Laney we are here there is Gojyo sitting right in front of you and you have met the others or should I get them in here as well. We have become too involved with them and we are wavering from our goal. You have the rest of your life as a half God and the demon curse that you have, but my days are marked and I have to get this curse lifted or it will take me from the one I love, have you forgotten about that.” Nori asks her in an angry tone.

“So you do love Sanzo?” Laney says.

“It does not matter what or who I love at this time. What matters is I get this curse lifted so I will be able to live and love for as long as the curse of the Last Children will allow me.” Nori tells her still angered.

“Then let them help us. Like they said they would.” Laney says.

“We can help you Nori, he will not be the first God we have ever went up against.” Gojyo tells her.

“NO!! I will not endanger you or anyone else this is not your fight…” Nori yells at Gojyo.

Gojyo gets up from Nori’s bed and walks toward her as he tells her, “Well sorry to say it is our fight now. You came to us for information and got more then what you planed on; you got your information and you have fallen in love… as well as Laney has fallen in love. Goku would miss you if you up and left he really looks up to you, and well I have to say I would miss you as well who would I go out drinking with and win all my card games with.” Gojyo says laughing as he stands right in front of her.

“It is not funny Gojyo.” Nori tells him.

“I am not trying to be funny Nori I am only telling you the truth. Sanzo is so head over heels for you if you left and ended up dieing on him he would never open up to anyone again. Do you want to send Sanzo into a whirlwind of emotions that he could never climb out of because he lost the women he loved?” Gojyo asks her.

“I cannot put you guys in that kind of danger Gojyo.” Nori tells him.

“That is for us to decide if we want to be in that kind of danger or not we care about you and Laney now you have become a part of our life now and I am sorry Nori but it is not your choice to choose for us.” Gojyo tells her as he reaches out to touch her cheek. Nori pushes his hand away as she looks into his eyes.

“I will not let you do this not now… not ever. This is our fight and I will see it to the end if it kills me to do so.” Nori says through gritted teeth. Nori turns and reaches for the door handle as Gojyo leans on it so she could not open it.

Nori exhales as she says, “Move Gojyo or I will move you.”

“Then you will have to move me because I will not let you leave here without us and then when you move me I WILL go get Sanzo to retrieve you.” Gojyo tells her.

Nori turns forcing both hands into Gojyo’s chest forcing the breath out of him, Gojyo bends over clutching his chest trying to catch his breath from the hit Nori delivered to him. Nori turns back to the door and opens it walking out saying.

“Now go get Sanzo, Gojyo. I am sure I will be long gone by the time you catch your breath. Maybe we will meet again Gojyo… maybe in the after life.” Nori’s words drifted off behind the door as she closed it.


“Gojyo are you all right?” Laney said as she jumps from her bed.

“Go… get… San… zo… now… we… have… to… stop… her.” Gojyo said still trying to catch his breath. Laney runs from the room looking down the hall and not seeing Nori there, she runs into the guy’s room and over to Sanzo’s bed as she shakes him trying to wake him.

“What the hell is…?” Sanzo grumbles as he opens his eyes seeing Laney and the panic in her eyes.

“It is Nori she has went after our Grandfather ALONE!!” Laney exclaims the others hear Laney talking to Sanzo as they sit up in bed.

“SHE WENT AFTER WHO!!” Goku exclaims.

“She did this alone?!” Hakkai asks in a shocked tone. Sanzo gets up from his bed and gets dressed. As he walks toward the door, Hakkai and Goku are talking to Laney.

“Sanzo where are you going?” Hakkai asks him.

“To go get her where do you think idiot.” Sanzo says in a cold tone.

“You do not even know where she is going to find him Sanzo.” Goku says.

“She is headed to Kanaan village.” Sanzo says,

“How do you know that?” Hakkai asks him.

“Because she was awake when I was talking to the Merciful Goddess and she heard where her Grandfather was going to be in a few days. I knew she would try to go there but I did not think she would try it so soon.” Sanzo says. He walks to the door and opens it seeing Gojyo standing there still trying to catch his breath the rest of the way.

“If you’re going with me get ready or I am leaving you all behind.” Sanzo tells them sounding annoyed at this point. They all get up and get dressed as they walk from the Inn seeing Sanzo sitting in the jeep waiting for them.

“If it would have taken you any longer she would be there by now.” Sanzo says still looking forward. They all climb into the jeep and head off toward Kanaan village.

“Do you think we will see Nori walking to the village?” Goku asks Laney.

“No Nori will stay hidden from us we will not see her until we get to the village.” Laney tells Goku.

“It is a full day’s walk to the village. If Nori is up to it she can make it in half a day.” Sanzo says as he turns looking at Gojyo, as he is still trying to catch his breath and rubbing his chest.

“And by what she did to Gojyo I would have to say she is up to it.” Sanzo adds.

“She will die…” Laney says as a tear rolls down her cheek. Sanzo looks over at Laney and gives her a dirty look as Goku yells out.

“DON’T SAY THAT LANEY NORI IS NOT GOINT TO DIE!!”

“Goku calm down Laney is just worried about Nori there is no need to yell or give dirty looks.” Hakkai said looking at Sanzo with a displeased look on his face.

“She will not die… In all reality she can defeat her Grandfather and she knows this. Not only does she know it in her heart she heard the Merciful Goddess tell me that she could defeat him.” Sanzo tells them.

“The Merciful Goddess said Nori could defeat him?” Laney asks Sanzo. Sanzo nodded looking straight ahead hoping that he might catch a glimpse of Nori somewhere along the road they were traveling to the village of Kanaan.

“That’s crazy talk Nori is only a half God and the curses together will kill her if she shifts over like she did.” Laney said.

“You do not give Nori the credit she deserves for her powers yes the curses is killing her, but as long as she uses her powers wisely she can defeat her grandfather and still live to tell about it.” Sanzo tells them still not taking his eyes from the road. “And when she is done killing him I will kill her for running off like this after I told her we would help.” Sanzo’s thoughts drift to Nori as he is still looking for her on the road.

“Nori please, fight him wisely if we do not find you before you find him. Use your powers to defeat him; do not go in all cocky being foolish with what you have.”

The group sat in the jeep thinking about this fight that Nori was running off to and wondering if she truly could defeat her Grandfather and get him to lift the curse on her and Laney.
