“Dark Love”
Chapter 9


Brad slowly sinks his teeth into Shelly’s neck as she cringed in his arms, a tear slowly rolls downs Brad’s cheek as he held the women he loved in his arms as he drained the life’s blood from her body to save his own life.

Brad’s body regenerated quickly from Shelly’s blood as he drank. As Shelly lays lifeless in his arms he pulls back from her laying her to the floor, Brad cuts his wrist for Shelly to drink from so she may change from her human form to a True Ancestor.

Brad looks at her as he says, “If you want to live on you must drink of my blood to be reborn.”

With what little life that was left in her body and what strength Shelly had left, she pulled Brad’s wrist to her mouth and drank. Another tear made its way down Brad’s cheek as he watched her human soul be devoured by the darkness that he had been born. Brad felt Shelly’s grip on his arm and wrist loosen as her eyes started to close and she laid there lifeless on the floor before him.

Brad leaned down placing his cheek next to hers. Where there was once the warmth of life now was the icy touch of death. A tear fell to the floor next to Shelly as he closed his eyes Brad whispered into her ear,

“I promise your death will not be in vain my love.”

Brad lifts up kissing her on the lips; he stands to his feet walking to the bars his Uncle erected in front of them. Brad turns from his former form into his true form, he raises his hands and hits them with a blast of magic as they come crumbling down in front of him.

Brad steps from their prison as Kevin walks his way with Little Charlie draped in his arms. Kevin looks at Brad still in his vampire form saying,

“Zachariah is dead. Is Shelly alright?”

Brad says nothing as he turns looking at Shelly lying on the cave floor. Kevin turns looking as well as Brad sees a tear trickle down Kevin’s cheek he ask Kevin, “Is little Charlie going to be alright?”

“He is in a bad way, but nothing a little time will not heal for him. How did it happen Brad? Please tell me it was quick for her?” Kevin asks him looking back at Shelly as she lay lifeless on the floor.

“It was as quick as I could make it for her.” Brad replies.

Kevin looks quickly back at Brad as he replies, “You turned her?!”

“She asked me to…” Brad hangs his head, “She did not want me to die.”

“That bastard beat you to the point of death and then thru you in there with her knowing you would do this or this would happen.” Kevin said in anger.

“Yes he did, and he won this battle, but he did not win the war. This is far from over in my eyes.” Brad tells Kevin.

Just then, Doug, Darren, and Darryl come running toward them. “Brad where’s Shelly have you found her…” Doug stops in mid sentence as he saw Shelly lying on the floor of the cave. Doug started walking toward Shelly slowly as tears stream down his cheeks. Kevin goes laying Little Charlie next to Shelly as he sets his hand on Doug’s shoulder he says,

“She will be fine Doug your brother turned her, she is still alive for the most part.”

Doug looks toward Brad as Darren and Darryl were crying as well, “Is that true Brad or is Kevin just tell me that.”

“Yes, I turned Shelly, I will explain later, but right now we need to find Uncle he has a few things he needs to pay for.” Brad tells them. Doug, Darren, and Darryl nods as Kevin looks down on Little Charlie, which had his eyes open now. Kevin nods at his little brother as he says,

“Take care of Shelly, Charlie we will be back after we take care of Jedidiah.”

Little Charlie nods smiling at Kevin as the 5 of them turn and walk off to find Jedidiah for their last battle.


“This way.” Darryl says leading them into a huge opening in the cave, “This was the last place we saw Jedidiah.”

When they walked into the opening, they heard Jedidiah reply, “So I see you are back on your feet Nephew. I am guessing Shelly sacrificed herself to you or did you just take her.”

“That is none of your business. What is your business is that only 5 of us will be walking out of this room and I am sure you know you will not be one of those 5.” Brad tells him.

“So you 5 think you can kill me so easily.” Jedidiah swoops down behind Kevin grabbing him first picking him up from the floor as he says, “I will not be so easy to kill like Zachariah.”

“We will see about that old man you may be powerful with just the one of us, but there is no why you can beat all 5 of us at once.” Doug replies.

Kevin spins quickly in Jedidiah’s grasps attacking him as Brad leaps attacking Jedidiah as well. Between Brad and Kevin’s attack, they were able to knock Jedidiah from flight. Darren and Doug then step in attacking him next. Darryl hit Jedidiah with a power blast that sent Jedidiah back into the cave wall causing some of the cave to crumble down on top of them.

Jedidiah gets to his feet laughing as Kevin strikes again sending him into the wall on the other side of the cave room. While Jedidiah was getting from the floor, Brad stepped up to him and stabbed his hand through his Uncles chest picking him up from the floor flinging him across the room again.

Doug then walks up to his Uncle looking down on him as he says, “I have lived in fear of you all my life, and it stops tonight.” Doug grabs his Uncle by his shirt and spins him around as Kevin runs his hand through Jedidiah’s back. Doug then throws Jedidiahi across the room once more.

Jedidiah slides down the cave wall landing on the floor. Jedidiah sat there for a few seconds as the 5 boys line up in front of him they all look at him as Brad says,

“Your time as clan leader is up, it is time to pass it on to the next family member.”

Jedidiah laughs as he tries to get to his feet saying, “My time is only begun, it is time for a new beginning… a new era of vampires and with Shelly to help rebuild the clan I will lead this new clan to rule the world.”

“You will lead nothing and Shelly will not be helping you rebuild anything. For your time here is over Uncle.” Brad tells him as he raises his hands along with the others.

All 5 of the boys hands start to glow as they release their power onto Jedidiah. Jedidiah covers his face with his arms as he starts to burn under their blast he laughs an evil laugh as he yells out to them,

“You will never be rid of me… I promise I will return and when I do you all will wish you were never born into this world as you know it.”

Jedidiah bursts into flames as he screamed out his last farewells, “I WILL SEE YOU ALL IN HELL!!”

Jedidiah’s body burned into ash the boys did not stop until they knew every piece of him was nothing but a cinder.

“Burn Zachariah’s body as well I do not want him coming back to haunt us anytime soon.” Brad tells them.

“I did that after I killed him. Zachariah nor Jedidiah either one will ever come back into our lives again.” Kevin replies.

“YES!!” Darryl and Darren yell out as they high five one another.

Brad and Kevin look their way as they smile. Brad looks at Doug smiling as he grabs him by throwing his arm over his shoulders pulling him toward him as Brad says,

“Let’s go get Shelly and Little Charlie and go home.”

Kevin chuckles as he says, “Sounds like the best plan I have heard all night.”


“Brad… Brad… Hey wake up Brad…” Kevin says shaking Brad were he pasted out on the bed next to Shelly.

“Umm…” Brad says still half asleep as he rolls over looking up at Kevin that towered over him at the side of the bed. “What is it?”

“Dinner is done do you want me to bring it up to you again or do you want to come down and join us tonight?” Kevin asks him.

“I will eat up here again.” Brad tells him sitting up on the edge of the bed.

“Kevin shakes his head as he walks away from Brad he tells him, “You know we have 3 more days still until she will awake from this.”

“We do not know that for a fact Kevin and I do not want her to wake up from this and be alone.” Brad tells him.

“I can understand that. I am sure she is going to wake up pretty freaked out.” Kevin replies as he opens the door to the room, he stops looking at Brad saying, “I will bring your dinner up here in the next few.”

“Take your time I am really not hungry right now.” Brad says. Kevin nods turning and leaving the room closing the door behind him.


As the days roll past the group find themselves on the 7th day of Shelly's death and her rebirth just around the corner.

Brad sat in a chair in Shelly’s room looking out the window at the setting sun. He turns looking at Shelly as he said in the silence of the room, “It has been 7 days, why are you not back with us yet?”

“The day is not over with yet Brad give it time.” Doug replies as he walks in the room. Darren, Darryl, Kevin, and Little Charlie walk in behind him. As they take a seat around the room with Brad.

“Are we sure this is really going to happen or it is just a tail that has been past down.” Darryl asks.

Kevin looks at Darryl as he replies, “It has to be true Jedidiah was going to do it. So it has to be a fact or he would not have been so hell bent on turning her.”

“That’s true, but like Brad said it is the 7th day why is she still laying there she should be up talking to us. Not lying there still dead.” Darren tells him.

Brad looks over at Darren as he exclaims, “She is not dead!”

“Yes she is!” Darren exclaims back, “Look at her…” Darren walks over to Shelly as he touches her cheek with his fingertips. “She is ice cold, her skin is pail, and she is not breathing. She is dead!” Darryl replies.

Bard gets up from his chair walking toward Darryl as he yells, “GET AWAY FROM HER!!”

“WHAT’S UP YOUR ASS!” Darryl yells back.

“Shelly is not dead and you keep your hands off her and if you are going to talk like that you can leave now!” Brad exclaims.

“STOP IT!!” Charlie screams at them as a tear rolls down his cheek. Kevin goes to his brother draping his arm over his shoulders giving him comfort.

“Come on you two show some respect here.” Kevin tells them. “We do not know what is going on here and if…”

“DON’T!!” Brad exclaims cutting Kevin off.

“I am just looking at this at every angel here. We do not know for cretin if what you did is really going to work.” Kevin replies. Little Charlie looks up at Kevin and then at Brad as he yells.

“YOU MEAN TO TELL ME YOU TWO WERE NOT SURE IF THIS WAS GOING TO WORK AND YOU DID IT ANYWAY!!” Charlie shoves Kevin’s arm from him as he storms toward Brad. Charlie grabs Brad’s shirt and jerks him toward him.

“You Son of a Bitch... You might have really killed Shelly!” Charlie exclaims.

“She is not dead Charlie!” Brad replies shoving Charlie back from him.

“YEAH AND YOU KNOW THAT HOW?!” Charlie asks him.

Brad looks over at Shelly as he says, “I just know.”

Charlie clinches his fist and hits Brad in the mouth as Brad stumbles back a few steps. “There is more where that comes from if Shelly does not come back to us.” Charlie walks away from Brad as Brad wipes the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand watching Charlie walk toward the door of the room.

“She will come back to us Little Charlie.” Brad tells him.

Charlie turns looking at Brad as he opens the door he replies, “You better pray she does, because I will not hastate to beat the shit out of you for taking her away from us.” Charlie walks out slamming the door behind him.

The others look at Brad and Kevin as Brad says, “She will be back… I know she will…” Brad walks to the side of the bed looking down on Shelly as he touches her cheek he whispers, “I know you will come back to us.”

The others leave the room all but Kevin as he sat back in his chair watching Brad standing looking out the window at the darkness that now covered the land. The night slowly ticked away still with no signs of Shelly coming back to them.

Kevin looks at the clock as it read 10:25 pm he looks back at Brad that was still looking out the window after 3 hours of standing there. Kevin gets up walking toward Brad as he saw Brad had been crying, he went to touch Brad’s shoulder as Brad replies still looking out the window.

“She is not coming back is she Kevin?”

Kevin looks over at Shelly and then slowly back at Brad as he says, “It does not look good, I will say that. Nevertheless, we still have an hour and 35 minutes before midnight. There is still a chance Brad.”

“What am I going to do if she does not come back?” Brad looks over at Shelly walking toward her, “I love you so much Shelly…” Brad starts to weep as he drops to his knees at the side of the bed next to Shelly. He crosses his arms on the bedside resting his head on his arms as he cries he says,

“I am so sorry Shelly… I should have never done this…” Kevin not sure what to do as he stands there watching Brad weep at Shelly’s side, “I killed you to save myself and now I will pay for what I have done to you for the rest of my life. I am so sorry…”

Just then, Kevin moves toward Brad and Shelly to comfort Brad. Kevin was just about to set his hand on Brad’s shoulder as he saw Shelly move. She moved her hand setting it on top of Brad’s head as she replies,

“Sorry for what Brad?”
