Chapter 14


The day moved on slowly and quietly for Dark and Shiraishi. Soon the sun began to set as Dark watched the moon show its pale face in the blackened sky as it hung its full-face low. Dark searched the night sky for Krad watching and waiting for his arrival as Dark heard Afton call to him,

“Dark it is 11 any sign of Krad yet?”

“No not any… Are you sure Zesiro heard you today?” Dark asks looking out over the sea below him.

“Yes he heard us plain as it is night now.” Afton says walking out to the balcony standing behind him.

Just then, Nakamura yells out, “Dark… Afton it is Shira!!” Dark and Afton walk into the room seeing Shiraishi thrashing around on the bed Grandpa and Aiko hold her down so she will not hurt herself in her thrashing about.

“What is wrong with her Dark?!” Nakamura exclaims.

“I do not know Nakamura, but I am sure Krad…”

Dark was interrupted by Krad, which now stood in the balcony doorway as he says, “You’re right Dark I am behind it. I could not have you killing off the only women you have truly loved… how fitting of an end would that be for her… or you.”

Dark looks at Krad as he says, “What do you want Krad?”

Krad hangs his head shaking it as he walks into the room farther he is chuckling as he says, “You and Shira truly do belong together. You are always asking the obvious. You know what I want Dark so just give her here and we will be on our way with no blood shed.”

“Over my dead body you will get Shira.” Dark says.

“Oh that could be arranged, but I do not want to kill you that is Shira’s job once she has returned to her body.” Krad says.

“Shira will never kill me Krad; I hope you have a back up plan.” Dark says.

“OH she will not have a choice once the binding spell is in place.” Krad says laughing at Dark.

“YOU BASTARD!!” Nakamura yells running toward Krad with his fist clinched.

Dark grabs Nakamura, as he says, “NO… Nakamura, Krad will kill you without a second thought. I will take care of Krad you do not worry he will not leave here with Shira.”

Dark hands Nakamura over to his Grandfather as Dark charges Krad knocking him back into the wall the both of them fall to the floor as Dark gets Krad out of the room onto the balcony. Dark’s wings appear as he grabs Krad jerking him from the balcony and flying off over the sea.

Krad and Dark battle it out over the sea casting spells and attacking one another physically. Knocking one another back into cliffs and into the sea as they charge back to attack the other one, one more time in the fight to save or get Shiraishi. As the fight rages on ward, Krad hits Dark one last time sending him back in the cliffs, Dark turns casting a spell so it makes it look like he was hurt badly on the last attack so Krad would go and retrieve Shira’s body. Dark stays there until he knows the coast is clear for him to move.

Dark fly’s down landing on the balcony as Afton walks out holding his arm Dark goes to him as he says, “You got in his way after I told you not to, didn’t you?”

“I had to make it look good and I was not about to let anyone else do it.” Afton says.

Dark shakes his head as he says, “I am going to the ruins, when it is over I will bring Shira back here to the rest of you.”

Dark was about to fly of as Grandpa walks out saying, “Dark do not forget. Do not let Shiraishi kill Krad.”

“Yes Grandpa I will remember.” Dark says as he takes off into flight.


A few minutes’ later Dark lands at the ruins above the ceremony room he can hear Shiraishi yelling at Krad trying to delay him in the binding spell. Dark goes to a hole in the roof of the room as he looks in he sees Krad standing a few feet from Shiraishi as she yells, “You have failed Krad you will not win.”

Krad laughs as he says, “You know nothing Shira my love Dark is hurt and he cannot save you not now not ever… after tonight you will be mine and together we will rule the world with you by my side Shira… NO ONE WILL STOP US!!”

Shiraishi laughs at him as she hears the clock strike telling the town it was midnight. She holds up the ring of Kao above her head that she has removed from her finger as she says, “The darkness will never smother the light as long as there is love and hope.”

Dark swoops down taking the ring from Shiraishi as she looks at Krad running toward them as he exclaims, “DARK!!”

Krad takes off into flight as the clock strikes the fifth stroke Krad goes after Dark. Dark flies adverting Krad taking him in circles trying to keep him at bay as the clock strikes seventh stroke.

Dark calls back to Krad as he says, “You will never win Krad.”

Krad fly’s after Dark full force slamming Dark into the ceremony wall. Dark drops the ring of Kao as the clock strikes its tenth stroke. Shiraishi lowers her head slowly seeing the ring of Kao roll to a stop at her feet as the clock strikes the eleventh stroke she looks up slowly as her eyes start to glow. Dark and Krad looks over to the Jewel of Arthur as it to is glowing a beautiful radiant blue of Shiraishi’s eyes.

Shiraishi laughs as it echoes through the ruins she says, “Now Krad…”

Shiraishi bends down picking up the ring as she holds the ring above her head they hear her say, “Thrice around this circle's bound, evil sink into the ground. Candle black and candle white heal this darkness with your light. I now release this plight and seal this ring with eternal light.”

The ring of Kao lifts from Shiraishi’s hand as it floats above her head for a few seconds as the light that surrounds it purifying the darkness that the ring held. The ring started to descend back to Shiraishi’s hand as she takes in turning to Krad she holds out her hand toward him as she says, “Casting down beneath the ground…”

Dark jumps to his feet as he yells, “NO SHIRA IF YOU KILL KRAD YOU KILL ME!!”

Shiraishi still holding her hand out towards Krad as he is struggling to become free of Shiraishi’s spell she looks at Dark as she says. “But Dark what he is trying to do and what he has done is wrong and he must not go unpunished for it.”

Dark walks to her side has he looks into her eyes as he says, “He will pay for it when you release me… he too will become human and broke away from the curse. That there will be enough punishment for Krad to make him suffer for a very long time.”

“I would rather die or live in the abyss of darkness for eternity, then to have to live a life of being human.” Krad exclaims.

Dark looks toward him as he says, “You get no choice in this Krad.”

Shiraishi looks back at Krad as she smiles she says, “Well then I guess I should keep him locked down as he did me until we free you Dark.”

Shiraishi looks back over to Krad as she still has her hand out toward him she chants, “Once around, securely bound, I cast this spell binding you Krad and freeing Zesiro from your hell, I hold you to be bound by this spell unable to cause any more harm to others.”

Shiraishi lowers her hand as Dark watches as he saw Zesiro and Krad separate. Zesiro falls to the ground on his hands and knees as he looks up he stands to his feet as he gives Shiraishi and Dark an evil look.

Shiraishi shakes her head as she says, “So much hatred and pain in one person’s heart, now I see why Krad and you worked so well together Zesiro.”

Shiraishi lifts her hand again as she says, “I take your pain and wash it way to never blacken your heart again. Only light will touch your soul and bring you forever calm.”

Zesiro falls to his knees again as he clutches his chest he chokes out to Shiraishi, “What… have you… done… to me.”

Shiraishi walks toward him as she sets her hand on his shoulder she tells him, “Rest now Zesiro and tomorrow will be a better day I promise.”

Zesiro lays down to rest on the ground as Krad says, “You have not won Shira you still have to separate Afton from Dark to have fully won this battle from me.”

Shiraishi walks over to Krad as she throws out her hand slamming Krad to the wall. He hits hard knocking the wind from him as shackles appear from the wall and bind Krad in chins.

Shiraishi says, “I bound you Krad so you would not do anything stupid until tomorrow and even if I would not have bound you. You cannot defeat me now I have fully descended and I have full control of my powers, there is nothing you can do to me or anyone else in my life that I cannot and will not stop you from doing. After tomorrow I promise you Krad I will heal you like I did Zesiro and you will live a normal happy life with the rest of us.”

Krad struggles trying to break free of the chains as Shiraishi smiles at him Dark walks up to them as he says, “Now my brother you will know what it is like to be under a spell you cannot break.”

Krad struggles harder as Dark grabs him by his arm. Krad jerks away from Dark as he goes to grab Shiraishi, stopped by the binding. Krad fights to grab Shiraishi as he is just within inches of touching her, she smiles as she says, “We will see you tomorrow Krad and you may as well prepare yourself for a new life.”

Dark picks up Zesiro as they walk from the ceremony room Krad yells making as much noise as he can as he saw Shiraishi wave her hand over her head she says as she walks out, “Yell all you like Krad no one will hear you.”

Shiraishi and Dark take Zesiro home to his room placing him in his bed Dark looks at Shiraishi and asks, “Will he remember any of this?”

“No he will not, with the spell of pure light it will set his mind to a new way of thinking. If he does remember any of it he will think it was all a dream.”

Shiraishi tells him. Dark and Shiraishi walk from Zesiro’s room as Dark picks Shiraishi up in his arms he looks into her eyes as he says, “I missed you so much… I am glad you came back to us safely.”

Shiraishi touches Dark’s cheek as she kisses him she pulls away from the kiss as they smile at one another Dark opens his wings and fly’s off back to Shiraishi home.


When they land on the balcony outside of Shiraishi’s room, everyone comes running out to her and Dark. Nakamura was the first to wrap his arms around his sister and welcome her back. She had a warm welcome and was happy to be back where she belonged.

They told everyone about the battle and what happened.

Nakamura exclaims, “Man I wish I could have been there to see it.”

Everyone chuckles at him as Shiraishi yawns Dark touches her back caressing it as he says, “You have to be beat… tonight was a big night for you birthday girl.”

“That’s right today is your birthday Happy Birthday.” Afton’s Grandpa says.

“Yes Happy Birthday.” Aiko says.

They all start wishing her a happy birthday as Afton asks her, “So Shira what do you want for your birthday?”

Shiraishi looks over at Dark as she says, “To live a long and happy life with Dark.”

Dark smiles as he says, “Well after tomorrow I will grant you your wish.”

Dark leans over to her as they kiss Grandpa gets to his feet as he says, “Well then we have a very busy day tomorrow with the party and separation spell to perform I say we all head to bed and get some rest.”

They all nod as they hug welcoming Shiraishi again telling her they will see her tomorrow.

Afton cringes as he hugs Shiraishi she pulls back from him seeing he is in pain from his arm, she touches his arm where it was hurt as she closes her eyes, a few seconds later Shiraishi opens them as Afton is standing there shocked, he feels no pain in his arm as he gives Shiraishi another hug he says, “Thank you Shira it feels much better now.”

She smiles at them as they all walk from her room. She closes the door behind them and goes to her bed lying down before Shiraishi knew it she was fast asleep.


The next morning Nakamura runs into his sister’s room yelling at the top of his voice, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRAISHI!!”

Shiraishi jumps up standing at the side of her bed as she saw Nakamura running toward her. She falls back to the bed as Nakamura grabs her and gives her a huge hug. She smiles as she flips him over on to the bed and gets on top of him tickling him as she says, “This is what you get for scaring the life out of me mister.”

Nakamura laughs wiggling under her as she keeps tickling him he wiggles so hard he finally gets loose of her hold falling onto the floor on the other side of her bed. Shiraishi stops looking over the side of the bed looking down on Nakamura as Nakamura leaps from the floor and tackles her to her bed. They laugh and roll around on the bed for a few minutes, as they are both out of breath.

Nakamura stops lying on the bed looking up at the ceiling next to his sister as he says, “I love you sis and I missed you so bad. I was afraid I was never going to see you again.”

Shiraishi rolls over propping her head up on her hand she says, “I missed you too Nakamura and I was scared I was never going to make it back either.”

Nakamura looks over at his sister as he smiles he jumps up from the bed to the floor as he says, “Wait until you see what I got you for your birthday you are going to love it.”

Shiraishi chuckles as she rolls over watching her little brother run around her room she says, “I cannot wait Nakamura I know it is going to be the best gift I get this year.”

“You bet it will be.” Nakamura says, “Well I am going to get ready for school I will see you down stairs sis.” Nakamura runs from her room as she hears him yelling down the hall, “Happy Birthday again.”


As the day pasted, and evening approached Shiraishi found herself standing in front of Krad. She turns looking at Dark and Afton as she says, “Well everyone is waiting for us to return what do you say we do this and get on with our lives.”

Krad jerks at his chains as he says, “I will get you back for this Shira… and Dark you will pay for this as well. I will remember everything that has happened here even if it takes a thousand years for me to return. I will remember this.”

“Do what you must Krad, but right now is my time and I will live a normal life at least once in my life and be loved by the woman of my dreams, before I have to take another step into the eternal hell that we were cursed into because of our families.” Dark tells him.

“Is that how you see this Dark is a hell?” Afton asks him.

“I find the way I have to live a hell, but being with the Niwa boys has really taught me a lot of things in my life.” Dark tells him.

“I can understand that Dark and I am glad you finally get to be free from the curse even if it is only for a few decades or so.” Afton tells him.

“Well bro we will get to raise our kids together and I will get to see my next Tamer before he is even of age.” Dark says chuckling.

“That is going to be cool and who knows I may not even have a boy. I may have daughters and then they will have the next Tamer for you.” Afton says.

“A longer life with Shiraishi always sounds good to me.” Dark says patting Afton on the back.

Shiraishi laughs as she says, “Alright then lets get this started I want to get back to my birthday party sometime tonight.” Dark and Afton smile as Shiraishi watches Dark and Afton join back together she takes Afton’s hands as they smile at one another.

Shiraishi looks deep into Afton’s eyes as she says, “No binds to hold or cures to fold nor chains to segregate, I free this soul to be one again and the other to be its own. For love sheds its light on forgotten hearts and will forever break this bonding curse.”

Shiraishi’s eyes start to glow an ice blue as she smiles at Afton in a few minutes Afton and Dark are standing next to each other as they turn looking at one another and then at Shiraishi, she smiles at them as she says, “Ok Dark now for the big test.”

Dark looks around as he calls for Wiff. Wiff appears out of nowhere as he goes to Dark, but does not transform into Darks wings Dark tries to cast a spell as that does not work either.

Dark smiles as he says, “It is done I am human.”

Dark’s smile grows bigger as he grabs Shiraishi spinning her around hugging her as he yells, “I am alive… I am as alive as you and Afton… I am alive!”

Shiraishi smiles as they stop she pulls away from the hug as she turns to Krad she draws her hand and waves it in front of Krad as the chains disappear she touches Krad’s shoulder as she says, “I take your pain and wash it way to never blacken your heart. Only the light will touch your soul and bring you forever calm. I promise you forever warmth and wrap your soul in a forgiving glow so when you come back to grace others lives, loathing and gloom will never blacken your path again.”

Shiraishi lifts her hand from Krad as he looks at her they smile at one another as Dark asks her, “Did you cast his evil soul into darkness?”

“Yes I did so if it works right, next time you come across Krad in your next life he may not be the same person you remember.” Shiraishi tells him.

They all smile at one another as they take Krad to the Hikari family home leaving him in their care as Shiraishi cast a spell over the house hold to keep Krad and the others at bay. Afton, Dark, and Shiraishi head to her home as they walk into the house and to the parlor everyone turns looking at them as they yell,

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRAISHI!!!”

Dark takes Shiraishi into his arms as he says, “It may be your birthday today, but I got the best gift I will ever receive if I live to be a million years old no one will ever top this day in my life.”

Shiraishi looks into Dark’s eyes as he pulls her close and they kiss.
