Elemental Power
Chapter 2


As Shiraishi sets at the bench looking through her classes she was assigned, she hears a young mans voice speak to her.

“Hello… it is a lovely day isn’t it?” Shiraishi looks up seeing a boy right around her age he stood in the afternoon sunlight as it shined in his hair. He turns looking at her with a big smile on his face as his lavender eyes gazed into hers.

She found herself not able to speak to him as he said to her, “So I see you’re new around here.” Shiraishi nodded her head and blinked her eyes trying to clear her mind she looked away from him.

“Yes I am. My brother and I started here today.” Shiraishi tells him still not looking his way.

“Dark…” He tells her.

“Excuse me?” Shiraishi said to him as she slightly looks up. His eyes catch hers once more and she feels speechless again.

“My name is Dark and your name is?” Dark asks her.

“Your name is Dark?” Shiraishi says in a confused tone, “Does your parents not like you.” Shiraishi says. Dark laughs as he sits next to her on the bench.

“I do not know why I was named Dark that is just the name that I have been called all my life.” Dark tells her.

“Alright then Dark… I am Shiraishi Michiyo. You may call me Shiraishi.” Shiraishi tells him.

“That’s a very beautiful name for a very beautiful lady.” Dark tells her.

Shiraishi blushes to his comment as she hangs her head, “I am sorry I did not mean to embarrass you Miss Shiraishi.” Dark tells her.

“No I am fine. It has just been a very long time since someone has paid me a complement is all. I guess I forgot how it feels to be told something like that and thank you for the complement.” Shiraishi tells him.

“You are very welcome and if you hang around me, you would hear them all the time.” Dark tells her smiling. Shiraishi laughs, as she looks deep into his eyes.

“You have beautiful eyes Mr. Dark.” Shiraishi tells him. “Do you wear contacts to make them that color.” Shiraishi adds.

“No I do not they are lavender by nature.” Dark says.

“That makes you quite unique then, I do not believe I have ever seen someone with lavender eyes.” Shiraishi tells him.

“Well as someone told me long ago there is always a first time for everything.” Dark says.

Shiraishi smiles saying, “Yes that is so true.” Dark smiles at Shiraishi, he was getting ready to ask her something when the bell sounded for them to return to class.

“Well Mr. Dark it was nice meeting you.” Shiraishi says as she stood, “I guess I will be seeing you around school.” Dark reaches out and takes her hand in his as he stands as well.

“I sure hope so Miss Shiraishi.” Dark says kissing the back of her hand, he looks her in the eyes smiling, he turns and walks away leaving her standing there stunned.


Later in the evening, we find Shiraishi and Nakamura in their home. Luxury surrounding them, the three-story home setting above the ocean on the cliffs they had everything anyone would ever asks for in a home. Ten acres surround the home, an indoor swimming pool, a tennis court, a weight room, solid wood and ivory, gold and brass trimming the walls and doors, plush rugs and carpets cover the floors and fine works of art and sculptures to adorn the walls and gardens and servants to wait on them hand and foot, they had everything.

Shiraishi and her brother go to the dinning room when they are called, them and their Mother and Father sitting around the dinner table talking about their day.

“So Nakamura did you make any new friends today at school?” Their Mother asks him.

“Yes Mother I made 3 new friends, but I do not see why you care. In a few months you and Father will take me from them like all the others.” Nakamura says in a hateful tone. Shiraishi looks across the table at Nakamura in disapproval of his choice of statements and the tone he had with their Mother.

“Young man apologies to your Mother for what you said to her.” Their father said.

“Why it is true… as soon as Shiraishi and I get settled in at school here you well be ready to move taking us away from our friends again.” Nakamura stands throwing his napkin to the table, “I will be so glad when Shiraishi turns 18 then I can stay with her and not be bounced all over the country. Then I can live a normal life.” Nakamura yells as he storms from the dinning room.

“Nakamura!!” His Father calls out to him.

“Let him be dear he is just up set about this move.” Their Mother says. Their Father looks over at Shiraishi as he narrows his eyes at her.

“Young lady what is this Nakamura was saying about staying with you when you turn 18?” Her Father asks her.

Shiraishi slowly looks at her Father saying, “Well Father I told Nakamura that if you two did not mind I would keep him with me so he could stay in one school and be with his friends. We all know that I will soon be out of school this year and I have been looking into the collages here since you told me we were moving to this place. The school here has also told me about their collages and gave me all the information on them I may need and they look very good and from what I have seen of the schools here they can offer me much more then the schools in the states.” Shiraishi says.

“So you are planning on attending collage here?” Her Mother asks her.

“Well Mother from the information I have gathered on the schools here I think it would be to my best interest to attend a collage here.” Shiraishi tells her.

“So you want to keep Nakamura with you do you?” Her father asks her.

“Yes Father I do, Nakamura is very upset about getting moved around and sent to a new school every year and I have to say I do not blame him.” Shiraishi says.

“And what about you do you feel bitter toward me and your Mother for doing this to you?” Her Father asks her.

Shiraishi hangs her head saying, “Why do you think I thru myself into my studies the way I did. If I was to busy studying I could not make friends which in turn meant I did not have to worry about leaving any behind. Nakamura is different he is sharp in school, but his friends mean a lot to him.” Shiraishi tells them. A silince fell between them when Shiraishi asks,

“May I be excused please?”

“Yes you may.” Her Mother tells her.

As Shiraishi walks from the dinning room she hears her Father, “Shiraishi I am sorry for doing this to you and Nakamura, but for us to have the life style we have today I had to do it. Plus it was my job.”

Shiraishi stops looking slightly over her shoulder she says, “We never asked for this life style Father. We only ask for you to be there for us and you have done that.” Shiraishi walks from the room seeing her cat she bends down picking him up and carrying him to her room with her.


Shiraishi walks into a large room of purples and whites, her bed a four poster queen size bed, a solid oak desk setting in front of a large sliding window that lead out to a balcony that over looked the ocean and three bookcases standing against the wall filled with books of all kinds. She had two pictures setting on her desk one of her Mother and Father and the one of Nakamura. She had one piece of fine art work hanging on her wall. A piece that did not fit with the décor, but it was one of her favorites so her Father bought it for her on her sweet sixteenth birthday at an art auction.

She set her cat down on her bed as he walked around she stroked his coat as he purred brushing up against her arm that she propped herself up on.

“Why is it that Mother and Father cannot see that Nakamura and I only want to stay in one place for more then a year Stryper?” Shiraishi says to her cat, her cat looks up at her and meows Shiraishi smiles.

“You always know what to say boy. I have never had anyone to talk to and I have always told you my problems… well you and my journal. Oh I guess I should do an entry into that.” Shiraishi says as she gets up from the bed.

She walks over to her desk taking out her journal she turns looking at her cat saying, “I met a very interesting boy today Stryper. He was very nice and quite handsome, he said his name was Dark, which I found odd, but we are in a different country. I guess I should not have asked him if his parents like him or not.” Shiraishi chuckles as her cat looks at her and meows again.

“Yeah I guess that was a little rude of me huh.” Shiraishi says as she slides the window open in her room to let some fresh air in. She sits down at her desk and starts the entry into her journal.

When she was done she closes her journal and slides it back into her desk and closes the draw, she looks around her room not seeing her cat.

She calls to him, “Stryper kitty, kitty.” She wonders where he could have taken off.

She soon hears him meow, “Stryper? Where are you sweetie?” Shiraishi says.

Stryper meows again it sounded like it was coming from outside her room. Shiraishi walks out on the balcony and calls his name again. “Stryper are you out here?”

Stryper meows once more as Shiraishi turns around seeing him setting on the roof. “Now what are you doing up there and HOW did you get up there young man?” Shiraishi walks over to the railing around the balcony as she climbs up on it so she could reach the rooftop to get her cat. When she finally gets her footing on the railing, she finds she has to tip toe to reach her cat.

“Come here Stryper I cannot reach you come closer to me.” Shiraishi tells him.

Stryper meows at her and steps a little closer, but not close enough for her to get him, Shiraishi reaches a little farther out as she starts to lose her balance. She catches herself and takes a deep breath looking down the other side of her.

“That could have been bad.” She says looking down onto the sharp rocks below her. “Come here Stryper or I will leave you out here all night by yourself and you will get cold.” Shiraishi tells him in a forceful tone.


As Shiraishi is trying to reach her cat none other then Dark was out on a caper that night.

“Hey Afton isn’t that Shiraishi down there?” Dark asks him.

“It looks like her.” Afton tells him. “I wonder what she is trying to do.” Afton adds.

“I think I will fly in and say Hello to her.” Dark tells Afton.

“Dark we have to get back home I am beat from the weekend and I have a big test tomorrow I would like to get some rest for it.” Afton says.

“It will only be for a few minutes Afton lighten up.” Dark says. Afton sighs, as he knows he cannot stop Dark when he gets his mind set on something.

As Dark flies closer to Shiraishi’s home, he sees she is trying to reach a cat on the roof.

“Look Afton she is trying to get that cat.” Dark says.

“It must be hers and he climbed up there.” Afton says.

“Maybe… let’s go help her out.” Dark says.

Just as Dark says that, he sees Shiraishi lose her balance and fall from the railing she was standing on. Dark picks up speed in his flying as he hears Shiraishi scream as she falls from her balcony. Dark sweeps in under her catching her in his arms just before she hits the rocks below. Shiraishi had her eyes closed when Dark caught her.

“You can open your eyes now you’re safe.” Dark tells her.

Shiraishi opens her eyes seeing the same boy she seen from school holding her in his arms, she felt a breeze blowing through her hair as she looks around she notices that they are flying and this young boy has wings. Shiraishi starts to wiggle a bit in Darks arms.

“Hey now if you do not want me to drop you, you had better be still.” Dark tells her.

“Who… What… I … I.” Shiraishi says in a slight panic.

“Take it easy I am not going to hurt you. After all I did catch you from your fall; you could be all over the rocks down there by now if I would not have been in the area when I was.” Dark tells her.

Dark lands on her balcony putting her down to stand as he pulls in his wings from flight. Shiraishi looks at him batting her eyes a few times and passes out cold, Dark grabs her in her fall to the ground picking her up into his arms again he packs her into her room laying her on her bed.

“Wow now this is some room she has here.” Dark says looking around.

“It makes three of my little room.” Afton says. “Hey Dark look over there.” Dark looks over to the wall where Shiraishi’s painting was hanging.

“Wow an original Van Gogh!” Dark exclaims. Dark walks over to it touching the frame.

“Get away from that!” Shiraishi yells.

Dark turns around looking at her, “So you’re awake?”

“Yes I am and if you do not leave I will scream and security will be here to arrest you.” Shiraishi tells him getting off the bed.

“So tell me how did you get your hands on this painting?” Dark says turning back and looking at it. “You do know it is the original right?”

“Yes I do and my Father got it for me in Europe for my sixteenth birthday if you must know.” Shiraishi says to him walking up to him and grabbing his arm turning him to look at her.

“Hey you do not have to get so ruff.” Dark says.

Shiraishi looks into his eyes and steps back a step or two, “You are… you are…” Shiraishi says stunned.

“Yep I am the guy you met today at school.” Dark tells her.

“But I saw wings on you tonight…” Shiraishi pauses placing her hand to her forehead she turns, “NO I was just in so much shock from falling I was seeing things… But then how… how did you catch me?” Shiraishi says as she turns back seeing Dark standing there with wings again. Shiraishi stumbles backward going to a fall as Dark grabs her.

“Easy now we do not need you getting hurt.” Dark tells her as he pulls her close to him. Shiraishi’s heart quickens as he holds her close to him. She looks deep into his eyes.

“Are you alright Miss Shiraishi?” Dark asks her. Shiraishi can do nothing but stand there and look at him. Dark pulls her closer to him and engages into a kiss with her. Shiraishi being over whelmed by her thoughts and her feelings passes out once again.

“I think you have over done it Dark.” Afton says.

Dark pulls his self from the kiss as he looks at Shiraishi. He again picks her up placing her on her bed taking the blanket at the foot of the bed and covering her to keep her warm. Dark steps back from her smiling as he brushes her hair from her face. Not saying a word, he walks away from her going to the light he turns it off walking from the room he goes to get her cat from the roof, he places the cat in the room and slides the window closed.

“Dark what is wrong with you talk to me?” Afton tells him. Dark still not saying a word opens his wings and flies to Afton’s home, Afton still trying to get Dark to talk to him on their way there.
