“Hunter or The Hunted”
Chapter 13


While everyone sat around the house, enjoying the day Stacey was worried that she had not, yet seen Christine or Aya. Stacey was hoping the feeling she was having was just an over reacting and nothing happened.

“What’s up babe your acting like you’re a million miles away from here?” Yohji asks her.

“It had been over 6 hours since we last saw Aya and Chris. I have this strange feeling and it is not a good one.” Stacey tells Yohji.

Yohji wraps his arms around Stacey pulling her close and kissing her on the forehead as he says, “They will be fine I know Aya and he is not going to let anything happen to Christine or himself.”

“That’s not the feeling I am getting Yohji.” Stacey tells him.

“What is it then?” Yohji asks.

Jen walks into the living room where they were talking as she was eating on a carrot stick as she says, “CC knows where Matt lives… That’s what the problem is.”

Yohji looks at Jen and then at Stacey as Ken and Omi’s eyes widen Ken says, “That would have been good to know about 5 hours ago… Don’t you think Stac!!”

Ken walks toward Yohji and Stacey as Omi replies, “Christine would not do that would she, it would jeopardize the mission?!”

“I am not going to say she would and I am not going to say she would not, but she was pretty upset when she left here.” Stacey says.

“Now wait a minute if Christine knew where Matt lived all this time why did she not go after him sooner?” Yohji asks.

“She only found out a few days ago.” Susie replies.

“Another factor in why she has been pushing herself so hard in her workouts.” Ken says in a pondering tone.

“Well let’s just hope Aya found her at the church and ended up taking her out somewhere to get her mind off all this carp.” Stacey says.

Just then, the phone rings as Jen answers it, “Hello…”

Jen looks around the room her eyes with a look of shock in them, as she says, “No she is still not here. So you’re telling me you never found her at the church?” Stacey walks up to Jen as she takes the phone from her.

“Aya did you ask Father Huge if he had seen her?” Stacey started to look even more worried as she says, “There is only one other place she could have gone and I pray I am wrong on this.” Stacey pauses as she listens to Aya saying something as she tells Aya, “Get here as fast as you can. We all need to have a talk.”

Aya returns to the house just as the sun is setting. When he walks in everyone was sitting in the living room as Stacey stands looking at Aya when he says, “Please tell me Chris came in while I was out looking for her?” Stacey and the others shake their heads.

Aya paces in a circle running his fingers through his hair exclaiming, “Damn it where the hell can she be?!”

Just then they hear a car pull up outside in front if the house Aya grabs the door opening it walking out as he saw Christine get out of her car he storms to her as he grabs her. Christine could tell he was angered at her, but his eyes told her he was happy and relived to see her.

“Where have you been all day Chris?” Aya asks in a worried tone.

Aya pulls away from her looking her in the eyes as she replies, “I went to talk to Brad.”

“Brad?!” Stacey exclaims as she was standing behind Aya, “Don’t you think that was a little risky?!”

Christine looks at Stacey with her eyes narrowed as she says, “Back off Stac, you know was well as I do that no one here knows what I am going through. Brad is the only one that really understands.”

Christine pushes her way past Aya and Stacey as she heads toward the house. Aya and Stacey fast on her heels as the others where standing around the front door with it standing open watching and listening to what was going on.

Christine reaches the front door as she stops looking at all of them they part ways to let her pass not saying a word as she walks by them out to the back patio heading to the dojo.

Stacey stops in the living room when Aya looked back over his shoulder he says, “I got her Stac, pleases stay out of it.”

Aya walks out the back door as he saw Christine had stopped on the bridge; she was looking down into the water. Aya saw a tear roll down her cheek falling toward the pond beneath her.

Aya slowly walks up to her as he touches her shoulder he says, “I was really worried about you today when I could not find you where you told Jen you were going to be.”

Christine lifts her hand drying her tears as she says, “I needed to think Ran and sort things out in my head.”

Aya slide his hand down Christine’s arm as she cringed and pulled away from him holding her arm.

Aya became worried as he says, “Chris what is wrong?”

He steps toward her trying to touch her arm again as she pulled away she says, “Just sparing with Brad today and I was not fast enough.”

“Let me see Chris.” Aya tells her reaching for her again touching her arm.

“I said I was fine.” Christine says in an angered tone as she cringes again this time jerking away from Aya.

Aya grabs her around her waist as she goes to walk away from him. Christine yells out, “Aya you’re hurting me!”

He turns her quickly, grabbing her wrist on the hurt arm he quickly lifts the sleeve on her jacket looking at her arm.

Aya freaked by what he saw as he yells, “BRAD DID THIS TO YOU?!”

Aya starts pulling at the bandage she had wrapped around her arm as blood was seeping through it.

“RAN STOP IT!!” Christine yells jerking away from him and walking quickly to the house, Aya grabs her again this time by her other arm Christine yells in pain again as he spins her around. He pins her against the side of the house as he starts pulling at her jacket removing it from her body.

He gets it off her seeing burse after burse on her arms he grabs her shirt lifting it up and off her as he saw burses on her stomach, chest, and sides.

“STOP IT RAN!!” Christine yells slapping and hitting Aya but he kept on pulling at her clothes.

He spun her around her back covered as well. Aya turns her back looking at him. He then grabs the snap on her jeans as he jerks unsnapping and unzipping them all at once. He jerks on the side of her jeans pulling them down; burses covered her hips and legs. Christine stood there as tears flowed down her cheeks as she still is fighting Aya off her. Aya stepped back looking at her beaten and bruised body. Christine pulls at her clothing covering herself again as she runs into the house half-undressed. Aya stood there unable to do anything as a tear rolls down his cheek.

Ken and the others watched Christine run through the house to her room seeing the bruises covering her upper body. Ken turned looking outside seeing Aya standing there in shock as a tear rolls down his cheek. Aya then started moving toward the house as if he was a zombie. He had no expressions on his face, it was pale and blank as he walked in past everyone walking to the couch and taking a seat.

Stacey sat next to Aya as she touched his shoulder Aya broke down and started crying as he leaned forward putting his hands over his face and leaning down between his legs.

“Why… Why would she let him do that to her…Why, I do not understand?” Aya says in a muffled tone as he cried from the sight of Christine beaten like that.

Stacey caress Aya’s back as she says, “Aya go to her, and talk to her. Let her tell you why she does what she does. Do not be defensive do not be angered, show her what you saw hurts you and let her know how you feel.”

Aya jumps to his feet as he exclaims, “How I feel… You want to know how I feel… I want to go find Brad and kick the holy shit out of him is how I fell right now. HOW IN THE HELL CAN HE DO THAT TO HER?!”

“I will tell you right now Aya, it was not Brad that did this to her.” Susie says.

“Shut up Sus!” Stacey says.

Aya spins looking at Susie as he exclaims, “Then who the hell did this to her?!”

Susie stood there not sure, if she should answer him, when the phone rang. Stacey went to the phone and answered it as she says, “Hello…”

“Yes she is home. No things are not very good here right now, I doubt if she will talk to anyone after what just happen here.”

Aya goes to the phone as he jerks it away from Stacey as he yells, “YOU SON OF A BITCH IF I GET MY HANDS ON YOU I WILL KILL FOR WHAT YOU DID TO CHRIS!!”

The phone went dead as Aya slams the phone down on the base. Aya gets an out raged look on his face as he says, “I have to get out of here or I am going to go insane.”

Aya storms from the house as they hear his car tires screaming as he leaves the front of their home.


It was a few days later on Tuesday afternoon as the Dragonfly sat in the teashop having lunch as Christine walks in going to the table she takes a seat with them as they all stopped talking Christine looks around the table as she replies, “I do not want to hear it…” She looks at each one of them as she continues, “Ran will come to me and apologize for what he did the other night or he can just stay away I will not be the first one to say sorry in this.”

Christine picks up her menu opening it as she heard Stacey say, “But you never told him anything Chris. What did you expect him to be… over joyed that Fararello has to torture you for him to teach you how to shut down your feelings and emotions.” Stacey pauses as Christine lowers her menu looking at her.

“My God Chris the other night Fararello beat you more then he usually does what were you trying to prove.” Stacey asks her with remorse written on her face.

“Do not look at me that way!” Christine say slamming her menu down on the table.

“WHY DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE I PITY YOU?” Stacey yells at her. Christine gets up from the table quickly as her quick movement shoves the chair back from her.

“I DO NOT NEED YOUR PITY OR ANYONE ELSES!!” Christine exclaims through gritted teeth.

Stacey rises from her chair locking eyes with Christine as she slammed her fist into the table exclaiming, “Someone needs to pity you because you sure the hell won’t do it.” Christine storms from the teashop leaving them all behind.


Later in the day, back at Christine’s work she was going through some papers at her desk as she heard the elevator doors open she stopped what she was doing as she looked in the direction of the elevator. When the doors completely opened, she saw Omi standing there with the cheeriest smile she has ever saw on his face. Christine smiles at Omi as he was carrying a vase of flowers.

Omi walks over to her desk as Christine asks, “Someone will be wearing a smile the rest of the day. Their very lovely Omi who are they for?”

Omi smiles as he extends them out to Christine he says, “They are for you… They are from Aya.”

Christine gets a look of disbelief on her face as she says in a sarcastic tone, “Sure they are Omi, now tell me who are they really from.”

Omi smiles as her as he says, “Well I tried…”

“So who are they from?” Christine asks again.

“There from me and the others.” Omi tells her.

“Others… as in Ken and Yohji.” Christine says.

Omi nods as she gets up from her chair going around the desk she gives Omi a hug Omi hugs her back as he hears Christine say, “Thank you that was very sweet of you guys.”

“So how have you been doing the last few days?” Omi asks her as they pulled from the hug.

Christine goes back around to her chair as she takes a seat she says, “Healing… been a slow process this time, but I am still healing and getting better everyday. I have had to workout everyday since Saturday to keep me from getting stiff. I wake up in the mornings and can hardly move.”

Omi stood there hanging his head as he says, “Why Christine… Why do you do this?”

Christine sighs as she says, “Broken bones and burses will heal Omi. My body cannot heal its self from death.”

Omi gives Christine an odd look as he says, “But Christine what you are doing is not healthy. It will eventuality kill you as well or make you cripple.”

Christine looks at Omi with an upset look as she says, “Omi this is not something I do everyday.”

“But Stacey said…”

Christine quickly stands as she exclaims, “Stacey does not know what she is talking about Omi!”

Omi shakes his head as he says, “Come by and see Aya tonight Christine, would you please.”

Christine chuckles saying, “Subject change I see.”

“He really misses you Christine.” Omi tells her.

Christine raises her brow as she says, “Does he now, you could have fooled me. I have not seen nor heard from him in 3 days.”

“He is hurt right now.” Omi replies.

Christine chuckles as she questions in a sarcastic tone, “He is hurt… I will trade him any day of the week.”

“You know what I mean; he has not been the same since Saturday night.” Omi says.

“I do not know what to tell you Omi I am not going to apologize for what I do or what happened that night. I will not do it.” Christine replies.

“You do not have to, just come by, and let him see you. Act like you came by to get flowers or to see one of us. You do not have to let him know what is really going on.” Omi says.

Christine rolls her eyes as she hears, “Your not twelve do not roll your eyes.”

Christine and Omi look across the office waiting room as they saw Sebastian getting off the elevators, Omi softly exclaims, “Aya…”

Christine chuckles as she comes from around the desk touching Omi’s shoulder as Omi looks at her she says, “No silly this is Sebastian.”

She leads Omi over to Sebastian as she gives Sebastian a hug then tells him, “Sebastian this is Omi… Omi… Sebastian…”

“I cannot believe how much you look like a friend of mine.” Omi says bewildered.

Sebastian smiles a sly smile looking at Christine as she says, “Get it out of your head Sebastian. Your not even close with that thought… and by the way what are you doing here already?”

“Well I was hoping that I might get to see a little bit of Japan before I go back so I thought I would surprise you and come early.” Sebastian tells her.

Christine smiles as she says, “I have all next week off to show you Japan I do not know if I can get 3 extra days to go with it.”

“That’s cool I can chill on my own for a few days. I do not think I can get too lost.” Sebastian says chuckling. “Anyways I have missed you girls I wanted to spend sometime… non business with you all.”

Christine looks at Omi as she says, “Tell the guys we will be by tonight.”

“Even Aya?” Omi asks.

“Well yeah… I want you all to meet Sebastian.” Christine tells Omi.

“Don’t you think that might be better done at your place? I mean you know the way Manx likes to drop in on us.” Omi replies.

“Umm… That is true… All right then bring everyone over to our place tonight.” Christine says.

“What if Aya does not want to come over?” Omi asks her.

“Tell him it is about the end of the month. If he is still in he has to be there.” Christine replies.

Omi nods as he walks away from them he turns as he says, “It was nice meeting you Sebastian.”

“Same here Omi.” Sebastian says waving at him.

Omi steps on the elevator waving back as the doors go closed Sebastian says, “He is about Jen’s age ain’t he?”

“Yes he is. The same age as Jen as a matter of fact.” Christine says walking back to her desk.

Sebastian follows Christine as he takes a seat in front of her desk they sit and chat for a few minutes. When her boss walks out from his office brief case in hand, he says, “Excuse me…” Her Boss says touching Sebastian’s shoulder then looking at Christine, “Miss Conner when you are finished here if there is nothing else to be done you may have the rest of the day off. I will be in court the rest of the afternoon.”

Christine nods as she says, “Thank you sir and we shall see you tomorrow morning and good luck today in court.” He nods at her smiling as he heads toward the elevator doors.

Once Christine’s boss was on the elevators and gone Sebastian stands as he says, “Well I must still be good luck for you. Now we have the rest of the day to mess around. Kind of reminds me of the good old days.”

Christine chuckles as she stands and starts to cover her things and put things away for the day as she says, “So what do you want to do?”

“Well follow you to your house would be a good start. I still have all my things in the car.” Sebastian says.

“You rented a car?” Christine questioned.

“I had to if I ever wanted to leave the airport.” Sebastian says chuckling.

Christine laughs shaking her head saying, “Alright then first stop my house.” She picked up her purse and they left the office.


Meanwhile back at the flower shop Omi arrives back from his deliveries as Ken asks him, “Well is she coming by?”

Aya walks out from the back room as Omi says, “I ran into Christine while I was out.”

Ken looks at Omi confused as he saw Aya walk by Ken did not know where Omi was going with this but played along, “Really and how is she?”

Omi looks at Ken as he smiles he says, “She is doing pretty well from what she said. Her friend from the states… Umm what was his name…” Omi pauses looking like he was trying to remember Sebastian’s name. “The one that is helping us out… Great I cannot remember his name?”

“Sebastian…” Yohji replies.

“Yeah that is it. He is in town he came in today not long ago. You sure can tell they use to date back in the day.” Omi gets a shocked look on his face as he exclaims, “And another thing you will not believe this but…” Aya turns looking at Omi as Omi says, “He and Aya look so much alike you cannot tell a difference between them. I thought it was Aya when I first saw him.”

Yohji turns looking at Omi as he says, “Stacey told me they hold a really close resemblance. The only difference is Sebastian has green eyes where Aya has blue.”

“So where are they now Omi?” Aya asks.

Omi gets a shocked look on his face as he looks at Aya saying, “Why…”

Aya becomes annoyed as he says, “Does it matter Omi, were are they now?”

“I do not know Aya. I guess checking out the town that’s what he said he came in for was a few more days of R and R without all work involved.” Omi told him.

Aya heads to the back as Omi says, “Aya…” Aya turns looking at Omi as Omi tells him, “Christine wanted us to stop by tonight to meet him. Are you going to go with us?”

“Of course I am…” Aya says still in an annoyed tone walking out of the flower shop.

“You did that on purpose didn’t you?” Ken says.

Omi looks at Yohji and Ken as he smiles saying, “Aya loves her, there is an old boyfriend in the picture, and Aya and Christine are fighting. What do you think?”

Yohji laughs as he says, “And here I thought you knew nothing of the game of love, good job Omi.”


The boys finish the day and close the shop down early. When they were about to leave Aya walks from his room, the guys start to chuckle as Yohji says, “So I see you are going to make up with Christine tonight.”

Aya looks at Yohji with a bewildered look as he says, “What gives you that idea Yohji?”

Yohji laughs walking toward Aya, as he looks Aya up and down saying, “Well it could be that you’re dressed up. The purple silk shirt you have on is Christine’s favorite and I am guessing since you have on cologne another one of her favorites, you’re thinking if one does not get her attention the other will.”

“So what if I am trying to make up with her. It has been a few days since we talked. This is getting to be too much… I miss her.” Aya says.

“She did not answer her phone when you called her did she Aya?” Ken asks him.

“How did you know I called her?” Aya questioned Ken.

“She called me right after you called her wanting to know what you wanted.” Ken tells him.

“What did you tell her?” Aya asks him.

“I told her I did not know, but what ever it was she would find out tonight.” Ken says.

“So she knows I am coming over with you all?” Aya asks.

“Well yeah what did you want me to tell her?” Ken asks him.

Aya sighs as he grabs his jacket he says, “Let’s go!”

Ken looks at everyone as he shrugs his shoulders and they all leave heading to Dragonfly home base.


When they arrive there Yohji, Ken, Omi, and Aya just walk right in. No one was in the house as Ken saw Jen out on the back patio Ken motions at the others as they all walk out to the back.

Once outside in the back they saw all the girls sitting outside and no Sebastian as Ken says looking at Omi, “I thought Sebastian was going to be here?”

Christine looks at the boys as she smiles looking at Aya she says, “He is he went in to get something to drink.”

Christine is still looking at Aya as she adds, “You look very nice tonight Aya.”

“Thank you Chris.” Aya tells her.

Just then, Sebastian walks out as he says, “You know babe, I think if Scotty knows everything you think he knows…”

Christine cuts Sebastian off as she says, “Sebastian Weiss is here.”

Sebastian pauses as he walks over to the table setting down his drink he offers his hand to Aya first as he says, “My God we do look a lot alike; I am pleased to meet you Aya. Chris has told me a lot about you, your one lucky guy to have her.”

Aya reaches out taking Sebastian’s hand as he says, “Sebastian… It is good to meet you as well and the same goes for you… Chris has told a lot about you as well and you’re right I am very lucky.”

Aya smiles looking at Christine as he says, “Chris may I speak to you alone for a minute?”

Christine nods as she stands she looks at Stacey as she says, “Can you introduce the others to Sebastian? I will be right back.”

Stacey nods as Christine and Aya walk into the kitchen Aya leading her with his hand in the small of her back.

Once inside Christine turns looking at Aya as she says, “I will not fight or argue with you any longer Ran. I am…”

Aya interrupts Christine as he says, “I am sorry Chris… I over reacted and I am sorry for that.”

Christine hangs her head as she says, “I am sorry for not telling you Ran. I should have told you and I did not.”

Aya reaches out touching her cheek as he moves closer to her he paused as he looks at Christine asking, “I am not going to hurt you if I take you in my arms and hug you am I?”

Christine chuckles as she says, “I am still a little sore, but I will live… only because it is you that is hugging me.”

Aya smiles pulling her close to him as she hears Aya whisper into her ear, “God this feels good… I have missed you so much Chris.”

Christine hugs Aya tighter as she says, “I am so sorry Ran… I love you so much, I should have told you, but I was afraid.”

Aya still holding her close says, “Never be afraid to tell me anything and please promise me you will start telling me things from here on out.”

Christine nods as she says, “Yes I will… I promise.”

Aya pulls back from the hug as he kisses her he steps back from the kiss as he says, “Let’s go join the others.” Aya takes Christine as she nods and they walk back out to the patio with everyone else.
