Car Show at the Westminster Promenade Mall,
August 23rd, 2003
The car show at the Westminster Promenade was enjoyable, but there were some negative aspects as well. The weather was nice and not too hot, with only a slight threat of rain. We gathered at the staging area and explained to the folks running the event that we wanted to park together as a club. Initially there were five of us, Norm Joseph with his Lamborghini replica, Richard Kendrick with his 1955 Ferrari, Ron Schlattman with his 1934 Mercedes, Dusty and Sharon Johnson with their Auburn, and me with the Aztec 7. Just before we moved to the mall, Norm was called away and many people were asking "where did the guy with the Lambo go?"
Most all of the other cars were placed first, and it appeared our club ended up being an afterthought. We were placed in an out-of-the-way location between the ice arena and the Weston hotel, which didn't get
much foot traffic, and we were still split up with other cars between us. We ended up moving around some, to be grouped closer together, but it was disappointing. We spent the day answering questions about our cars and enjoying the shops and sites at the mall. There were many interesting cars to see and an Elvis impersonator to entertain the crowds. By the end of the day, we were hot, tired, and again disappointed when none of us received any awards.
All of us in a row, after we re-situated ourselves to be together:
From far away, you can see all of us equally.  At least we had some shade and a fountain in the background:
A photo taken near the end of the day, with the owners standing proudly next to their cars:
A 1934 Ford hot rod, that appeard to be a Street Beasts kit.  I left info on the club in the car, but haven't heard anything from the owner yet:
