First Annual RMHA Trivia Tour
June 29, 2003
Well, the first annual Rocky Mountain Handcrated Autos Trivia Tour was was one of the funest events we’ve had in a while.  5 members/families participated and I think we all agreed that we’d like to do this again next year.  We started out at Dusty and Sharon Johnsons ranch in Loveland with the weather threatening to rain.  As we started out on the tour, there was Dusty and Sharon in their Auburn Boattail, Don and Julie Riedel in their 1939 Jaguar Roadster, Ron Schlattman in his 1934 Mercedes, Bill Lynch in his 1984 pickup (he didn’t bring his T-Bird replica due to the possibility of rain), and me in my Aztec 7.  My wife Terri and son Logan were also following in our Jeep.  As we traveled up the winding road to Estes Park, finding the answers to the trivia questions kept us on our toes, but this is also what made the trip extra enjoyable.  We had to keep our eyes open for specific landmarks, buildings or just unusual decorations in the locals yards.  Really folks, I could have sworn that building was green!
When we reached Estes park, we drew quite a few stares and several camcorders followed our unusual parade through town.  We parked for lunch at "The Brewery" in south Estes Park.  At the restaurant, we had great food and the answers were given to the trivia questions, plus we had to answer additional "tie-breaker" questions.  The points were tallied, but the final results would not be revealed until we stopped again in Lyons for a snack.  Here are a couple of pictures of all our cars parked together:
On the way out of town we first hit a large amount of traffic, and then the rain started, so we waited while those with rag-tops quickly put them up.  The rain was short lived though, and by the time we reached our next destination, the sun was out.  In Lyons, we stopped in a small park by the river and watched kyakers attempting tricks in the rapids.  The trophies were awarded with the Riedels receiving first place, and yours truly receiving last place (the trophy has our club logo on one stand and the image of a horses behind on the other).  I’ll place it on my shelf at home with pride!  I’m going to chalk up my poor showing due to the limited visibility from the small Aztec.
Here is the whole group in Lyons, before we broke up to head home.  From left to right, the participants pictured are:

Thanks again Dusty, Sharon and Ron for putting on a very fun event!!!
