April Magick

The warm April showers offer a gentle way to explore the powerful element of
water. As April rains fall on Mother Earth and heal the cracked dryness left
by winter's chill, she drinks deeply of the rain and luxuriates in its
softness. Clean, quenched, and strenghtened, the earth is regenerated and
prepared once again to give birth to a wide assortment of spring plants and
flowers.
Start your exploration of rain and water by taking a walk in the rain. Let
the falling water wash over you. Try to imagine water washing not just over
your body, but over your spiritual self as well. Feel it clear away the
spriitual dirt that is inhibiting your emotional responses to people and the
events around you. Catch some rain on your tongue and be mindful how how it
makes you feel. Chances are, you'll feel much like your nature sublings;
renewed, refreshed, and vibrantly alive. That is the power of water at its
best. This is important because emotion gives us the tenacity to follow
through with projects and keep working at them until completion. Emotion
also gives our work purpose making it easier to bring goals to fruition.

Magickal Water
Aside from the emotion/water connection, natural water is one of the most
powerful elements we can add to any magickal effort. Water brings the human
factor into our work. It comprises 90 percent of the contents of the human
body. It keeps our blood circulating through our veins and our organs
working properly; it brings elasticity and flexibility to our muscle and
skin tissues. In essence, water is responsible for sustaining the life force
of the human form. Thus, it provides a direct link between us and the world
of magick.
Look at how water affects your surroundings. Take note of how quickly the
earth soaks it up. See its impact on the grass, plants, and trees. Pay
attention to the animals and how water affects them. Watch as the birds
flock to the puddles and flutter their wings in bath and play. See the
renewed vigor of the squirrels, chipmunks, and rabbits as they initiate
games of chase and leapfrog.

Because of the connection between water and successful magick, the month of
April provides a good time to harness this power and put it to work. Collect
rainwater in clean plastic jugs that have their tops cut away. When the jugs
are full, enchant the water by saying something like:
April rains, oh potent force
Lend your power to my course
Let spells and dreams be strenghtened
With rain's vibrant energy
As I will, so mote it be!
Bottle the water, label it and date it, and store it in a safe place. Then
use the water for magickal efforts where joy and happiness are an issue. It
works wonders in spells designed to relieve depression, emotional pains,
stress, and worry. Just pour a small amount into a glass or cup, and charge
it by saying something like:
Gentle water, springtime rain
Wash away all hurt and pain
Bring instead smiles and fun
As I will, so it be done.
Perform the desired spell and drink the water. Then sit quietly for a few
moments and relax. Pay special attention to the flow of anxiety and
aggravation from your body. Allow them to dissipate into thin air. Know that
whatever pressures plagued you are washed away. More importantly, understand
that they won't be back to bother you again.
While this is an excellent way to add the power of water to your spells,
don't stop there. There are countless ways to use this powerful substance in
the magickal life. Use it to brew your favorite tea. Pour some in your bath
water to alleviate blahs and doldrums. Add a little to the mop bucket for a
hefty dose of happiness in the home. Above all, don't forget the house
plants. They can always use a heaping helping of natural joy.
