Menstrual pads: Even though these sound gross, you will never believe how comfortable they are !! If you would consider using cloth for your baby's bottom, why not your own? I have personally used these exclusively since my 3-year-old was about a year old and I absolutely love them. I make them of used receiving blankets and ugly towels but you really could use any flannel you like ... woo-hoo, designer pads!! Cut out the pattern pieces you will need: Light flow - cut 4 pieces flannel for each pad Medium flow - cut 6 pieces flannel for each pad Heavy flow - cut 2 pieces flannel and 2 pieces terry for each pad Each piece will measure approximately 12" long by 4" wide. Round the corners if desired.. Layer your pieces together and straight stitch about 1/4" from the edge. Then trim the edges even and zigzag around the very edge being sure to catch ALL the edges to prevent raveling. The recommended stash of pads for a heavy flow gal like me is: 4 light flow 10 medium flow 12 heavy flow For overnight on SUPER heavy flow days I wear two pads together. Since these are made of flannel, they lay very nicely inside snug panties and don't move around. They are also a little longer than regular pads, so you don't get that bunching up thing going on in the back.
