Rachell was born July 15, 2003 and is adorable.

She loves to play tub-ball (a game where I push the ball around in the tub and she chatters excitedly), sit in the window and watch birds, to be held and loved, and when given the chance she's an intrepid explorer.

She's as happy and energetic as any cat I've ever worked with.  She's a petite cat at only 7.5 lbs and at a year old is likely full grown.

Rachell's Issues Are:

1) FeLeuk Positive.  However, she's so active and energetic you'd hardly believe the test results and the virus in this particular colony appears to be a passive strain - most positive cats  from the colony do very well as long as they are not introduced to other FeLeuk+ cats and are not stressed out.

2) She has suffered from Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex (an inflammatory immune-medeated illness where the body's immune system attacks itself).  This has in the past manifested as a lesion on her nose but overall is hardly noticable and doesn't affect her health or interest at all.

3) She has plasma-cell stomatitis - an inflammation of the mouth and gums.

The second and third issues ARE treatable with long-term steriod therapy.  Rachell has had several treatments at this point, each at an increasing interval and she is doing wonderfully.  Her vet and I are very pleased.

Because of her additional issues, Rachell really needs to be an only cat rather than share a house with other FeLeuk+ cats (another cat's FeLeuk virus could cause Rachell's strain to 'activate.').

She might mix with dogs, as she seems to like them.
