Chapter 1 The Change Purse |
|||
The little jolly fudge attacks Marissa’s neck when she refused to baby sit her change purse. She then stalks off in pursuit to find a qualified babysitter. She corners Cristine, determined. After explaining her predicament, Cristine only grunts lazily. In a fit of rage, the little jolly fudge hisses and pounces upon the unsuspecting child and bites at her ears. She then hops away, dusts herself off and continues on her expedition. She comes upon Rikki, a kind-hearted young girl, and ties her up; then, leaping from table to table, lands on the floor in front of her. She slowly approaches Rikki, grabs her head, and staring into her face, calmly told of her needs. Rikki carefully nods, acting like she understands this poor creature. The little jolly fudge dances gleefully, for she believes she has found a suitor. While making clicking noises, she pulls from her pocket a little green change purse and presses it into Rikki’s hand. The little jolly fudge then stares into her eyes warmly and scampers away into the shadows. Rikki slowly unties herself from her bindings, and marches home, determined to do whatever the little jolly fudge had tried to tell. She places the little change purse in a rodent cage and sits on the windowsill. Rikki then collapses on her bed from exhaustion of being held captive by an angry little elf. As she sleeps, her bunny, Sesame, marches in from her hiding place. Carrying a knife, Sesame approaches a metal stool standing symmetrically with a table below the windowsill. The bunny needs a way to clamber up the stool, but what? Sesame looks around, only to find Rikki’s hair hanging off the bed. Sesame slowly walks over, and using the kitchen knife, cuts her hair off. She then diligently braids it into a rope and begins to climb towards the windowsill. As she reaches the cage, Jackie, Rikki’s little sister, comes into the room. The bunny gasps, Jackie gasps, and they both raise their fists, ready to fight. Jackie tries to run, but Sesame leaps onto her head and they collapse in a bloody brawl. Sesame kicks and punches, Jackie bites and scratches. With a desperate attempt, Jackie flings the bunny into the closet, and bounds toward the cage. Reaching into the cage, she snatches the helpless change purse and pulls her arm back out. As she sneaks out of the room, Rikki jumps out of hiding and grabs Jackie’s neck. Rapidly shaking her head, Jackie drops the change purse, and they both continue the beating throughout the house. Jackie grabs a vase and smashed it into the wall. Rikki grabs a bat and smashes out a window. As Jackie gains on Rikki, her cat gets between her legs, at the same time Jackie lunges at her. They hit the basement door, break through it, and roll down the steps. Her cat, seething from the sudden rudeness, boarded up the doorway, grabbed a chunk of cheese, yanked on a cap, and dove out the smashed window, laughing hysterically all the while. The poor change purse lay in the hall. A week passes, and the little jolly fudge hops down the chimney, emerging in their home. Screaming for her change purse, she stumbles upon it in the hallway. Gently lifting it, with tears in her eyes, she clenches it in a fist and vows to get revenge. |
