Hiei and the Stuffed Bear

One-shot. Kurama’s POV

Warnings: Uh, nothing really. ‘Cept for general teasing of Hiei.

I was very shocked the day I got home from school and saw Hiei at the kitchen table. With my mother. I specifically told him to stay in my room.

What was even more shocking was some how he had been forced into some of my old clothes. He was wearing blue jeans and a simple white t-shirt. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t asleep.

“Shuiichi! I found this poor little boy in the tree outside your window. He was sleeping there. He said he’s a friend of yours,” My mother exclaimed. I cringed slightly. This was going to be fun to explain.

“Um, yes he is a friend,” I responded slowly. My mother put her hands on her hips.

“Of course he’s your friend. I already knew that. What was he doing in that tree?” My mother asked impatiently.

“Sleeping,” I said. My mother was livid by now. Uh, oh.

“Shuiichi, I KNEW THAT! WHY was he in the tree instead of the house?” She asked loudly. I smiled at her to pacify her; didn’t work. My mother usually didn’t get mad like this. Hiei must have caused trouble.

“He likes to be in trees and I didn’t know he was outside,” I said calmly. Okaasan rolled her eyes.

“He likes to sleep in trees?” She asked in a low tone. I knew danger was coming. I was carefully moderating my answers to keep them neutral and avoiding confrontational tones. Hiei was rather amused by the whole encounter. Note to self: beat Hiei later.

“Yes,” I said blandly. The conversation continued like that until my mother got in it her head that Hiei was a lost little child that needed to be cared for and I was off the hook.

“Shuiichi, get the extra futon and put it in your room. Since he’s your friend, he can share your room. Though I don’t know why you’re friends with a kid about ten years old,” My mother said. As I walked off I couldn’t help but laugh at Hiei’s expression. Ten years old?! I don’t even know how old Hiei is. I don’t think he knows either.

Later on, after dinner my mother was cleaning up and talking to us.

“Shuiichi, could you go up and get more of your old clothes out of the attic? That weird black outfit he was wearing was simply horrendous. Patches and seams everywhere. Rips, dirt, red clays. If I didn’t know better, I would say he fought for a living”

I held my laughter till I was at the top of the stairs. At that point I was turning blue from trying not to laugh my head off. If only my mother knew the truth. Ha!

I was giggling the entire time. At one point I hyperventilated. But I got the clothes down. I feel bad for Hiei. My mother had me wearing pajamas with feet and ears at that point. It was only a few years ago that I was allowed to buy my own clothes and regain my lost pride.

“Mom, Got the clothes,” I called out from the top of the stairs.

“Could you run Hiei a bath? He’s so filthy,” She called out.

Actually, he was relatively unsoiled by Makai standards. In my Youko form, I was immaculately clean. Kuronue used to tease me about being so dirt free. I responded with something along the general lines of ‘Well at least I actually bathe dirt boy.’ That earned me an attack to which I fought back. We both usually were covered in wounds by the end of the argument and I had to rebathe. But we got along really well. If we had been serious about fighting, we both would have been dead.

I stalked up to the bathroom and put really hot water in the tub. I mean Hiei is a fire demon. Any slightly cool water would freeze him or he would just heat it with his own body heat. I didn’t really want to risk him boiling the water to warm it.

I went down stairs when the bath was drawn. My mother went and got Hiei a pair of pajamas with feet. Then she dragged him to the bathroom and shut the door behind them. My mother was going to help Hiei with his bath. I was going to have to listen by the door.

“Woman, let go of me. I can undress myself,” Hiei snapped.

“Now, now. Be a good boy and get in the tub,” My mother said. After this splashing, things hitting the wall, ect ensued.

“I have to wash your hair,” My mother said.

“I can bathe myself,” Hiei said with a deadly glint to his voice.

“Alright, but if there is one speck of dirt on you, you have to get back in,” my mother said. She came out soaking wet.

“Mother, what happened?” I asked, holding a wave of laughter in.

“That boy didn’t want to take a bath. I was forcing him,” She said before stalking off to her own room to get dry clothes.

Hiei came out a little while later, dressed in the embarrassing pajamas. I went to my own room and got ready for bed. A few minutes later, my mother walked in dragging Hiei behind her. She pushed him toward the futon.

“Go on, get in. Oh, and I have something for you,” My mother said as Hiei got under the blankets. As soon as he looked comfortable, she pulled a stuffed bear from behind her back.

“Here, you can sleep with the teddy bear. It used to be Shuiichi’s favorite toy,” My mother said. At that point I had been giggling, but the second the last line came out of her mouth; I could have killed her. Hiei got an amused look and took the bear. My mother tucked Hiei in, kissed me goodnight, and left. She shut the door behind her.

“A favorite toy. The great Youko Kurama attached to a toy,” Hiei taunted.

“And what of it?” I asked coldly.

“Nothing, it’s just funny,” Hiei said. I’ll get you, little fire demon.

“Night, Hiei,” I said as I turned the lights out.

“Night, Kurama,” Hiei said in response.

The next morning, I woke up and looked over at Hiei. He had kicked the covers off in the middle of the night, so you got a good view of the feetsy pj’s. He also was snuggling the bear really tight. I had to have pictures. I got my camera. I got about ten images. I had good black mail. I think Yusuke, Kuwabara and Koenma would love to see Hiei like this.

I hid the camera just as he was waking.

“Morning, Hiei. Did you sleep well?” I asked innocently.

“Yeah,” Hiei responded. I got up, grabbed some clothes out of my closet, went in to my bathroom and got ready for the day. When I came out, Hiei had already gone down for breakfast. He took the bear with him.

After a quick breakfast, I left to get the pictures developed.

About after the pictures were taken, Hiei decided to be mean. I pulled out one of the pictures and showed him. He threatened my life, called me names, ect. I got up to call Yusuke to come over to see the images. He shut up.

This is going to fun for a while. All cause my mom gave Hiei a stuffed bear.
