Well, another summer passes by and that means i've got allll day to just sit around, listen to music and.. sit around. WRONG! I now have a job, and since i work at a library with a cool librarian, guess what that means? It means i'm going to have alot of good books to read this summer! These books are picked out by intuition and/or by the coolness of the cover. You might consider reading them... books are good when you're bored and need to get out of the real world. So this is my list so far; of books that i've read and that i'm interested in reading. Have a look around.
This is a hilarious book/diary of a fourteen-year-old British girl named Georgie Nicolson. Georgia tries to live a normal life with teachers and parents from another planet, insane and embarrassing friends, a crazy dogish cat and puberty... and of course boys. You could tell it's not a real diary but some experiences were really experienced by the author, Louise Rennison, but it's seriously funny. Even when something is too stupid to laugh about, you just have to laugh out loud (even if you're in a bus full of people- i can't believe i did that!) But this is a great book; It's light-hearted. except i myself got pissed at Georgia sometimes because she can be an idiot of a bitch, but i recommend this novel,,, and the others which are a continuation of this.
This is the continuation of "Angus, Thongs and Full-frontal Snogging". Again, a great book, but it's a downer when the obvious strikes that defenitions of people and things i obviously knew in the first book were repeated here and there throughout the book (not alot tho) for people who hadn't read the first book. I laughed, but i think i laughed more for the first book, although i kept picking up the book and reading it at any chance i got. Georgia is now the girlfriend of her sex god but embarrassing situations and crap seems to happen all the time, just to annoy and bug Georgia's life. I personally would have slapped the girl in the face, twice, because like i said, she can sometimes be an idiot of a bitch. Recommended- These books fit nicely into summer :)
Do you want to know what nunga nungas are?? They're boobs. Go figure the rest of the book. No, actually this one made me laugh alot too, as much as the first one did. Things get complicated as a new boy enters Georgia's life and Angus makes a new friend; A sex toy, as Georgia puts it. Sometimes things are said and you think they're just too stupid to laugh at... but they're just so irresistable and you just have to laugh out loud. Hey shit! Now that i think about it... part of what happens in this story already happened to me! :S
This one is quite interesting, and you just can't put aside the fact that it's the last one, the end, and there will never be a continuation besides one from your mind! Well, that's what mostly ran through my mind when i was three-quarters through the book. # 1 + 3 are funnier, but # 2 + 4 are right behind. The ending makes you put the book down calmly, lie in you bed, stare at the ceiling or the walls and wonder "......". It's a good ending, it's just that... well, no one likes these kinds of diaries to end! Although i wished it would continue, it put a smile on my face. A great series indeed.
As the title says, it's a true story, and it's a true story about someone who ran away, and that's why i read it. Unfortunately, this book is seen from a therapist's eyes and recording tapes, therefore i skipped through alot of pages when it got all gushy and "oh, you're So right, i never looked at it that way!" The story sometimes seems a bit off, but this happened, if i remember correctly, around 1995 around California. It's a good book if you like to here what a therapist has to say and you're interested in gangs and stuff, but it wasn't what i thought and hoped it would be.
