OBJECTIVES OF THE MUSIC FESTIVAL

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

1. To stimulate in the citizens of Newfoundland a greater appreciation and understanding of good music.

2. To discover and encourage musical talents in young and old.

3. To make available to those who compete, the constructive criticism of musicians who are outstanding in their profession and who have the experience of competitive festivals elsewhere to bring to this province.

4. To so enthuse those, whose talents justify it, that they may finally enter the profession of music teaching and direct and forward the training of others.

5. Through Scholarships and Cash Awards to give some assistance to those who desire to progress in their knowledge of music and in their ability to perform or teach it.

6. To revive interest in choral and instrumental groups such as church and other choirs, bands, orchestras and smaller ensembles.

7. Through Music to bring Joy and Happiness to our Land.
