REGULATIONS FOR
NATIONAL CHORAL CLASSES
1.  Unless rules of a local festival are to the contrary, it will be the responsibility of the choirs to arrange recording of the selections they expect to qualify.
2.  The tape should be recorded at 7 1/2 ips on otherwise blank tape onto a 5-inch reel allowing sufficient lead in, or good quality cassette tape.
3.  Tapes and music should contain no reference to the name of the choir, its conductor or the festival from which the tape has been sent.
4.  It is preferable to have the taping done during the actual performance but should this not be feasible, it should be done within one week with the same choir, conductor, accompanist and accompaniment as the original performance. Local festival official(s) must supervise the recording of the performance and/or any subsequent tape recording session.
5.  No acoustic or electronic compensation, filtering, "Dolby" or other enhancements are to be used.
6.  The tape is to be retained by the Festival official(s) and this, with the music scores, must be sent by the local festival as indicated below.
The competition will be conducted at three progressive levels.
1.  LOCAL FESTIVALS: The adjudicator(s) at the local festival may choose ONE senior and/or ONE junior winning choir and ONE Vocal Ensemble which is felt to be of National Trophy standard.  The written recommendation along with tapes of the performance and the music shall be sent to the Secretary of the Provincial Festival Association.
2. PROVINCIAL LEVEL: Choral adjudicator(s) will hear all the tapessubmitted on a live performance and having made the choice of winning senior and junior choir and one vocal ensemble will complete the recommendation forms.  The winning tapes along with the recommendation forms and music shall then be immediately forwarded to Mr. G. Murray Campbell, 540 Cordova Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3N 1A7.  These are to be sent by registered mail and should be in the hands of the Administrative Council NOT LATER than June 15.
3.  NATIONAL FESTIVAL: Tapes from all the provinces shall be heard by appointed adjudicator(s) and the winners of the City of Lincoln Trophy for Senior Choirs and the George S. Mathieson Trophy for Junior Choirs and the Richard W. Cooke Trophy for Vocal Ensembles will be notified by telephone.
Festivals are reminded that choirs may be disqualified at any level
