The rebuilt top end. New piston rings, honed cylinders and lovely and clean. No blue smoke. I'm now working on the generator unit (left) Very unusual, makes NO noise when starting the car. (Sounds like it's being push started!) NOS front and rear engine mounts to be used when re-fitting. |

NEW! JUNE '03. Since testing the rebuilt motor I have had to do more work on the gearbox. I think I fitted an incorrect shaft which put excessive pressure on the final drive. This caused a gear to loose a tooth!!! Have now fitted new parts and all is well. The Camshaft oil seal (breaker plate end) needs refitting. It has a grooved surface to prevent oil loss and it was fitted the wrong way round. I also need to check the generator as it does'nt provide charge (even though it is able to start the engine!). |
