Special Memories from Family and Friends
KENNETH LEE DRAUGHN, SR.
May 2, 1968 -- June 27, 2001
If I had one lifetime wish,
One dream that could come true
I'd pray to God so hard
For yesterday and you.
They say memories are golden
Well maybe that is true
But I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
If teardrops were a stairway
And heartaches a lane,
I'd walk a path to heaven
And bring you back again.
A thousand times I've needed you,
A thousand times I've cried.......
If love could have saved you,
You would have never died.
I love you Kenneth with all my heart and soul and miss you greatly.

Your wife forever and eternity,
M'Linda
Kenneth

A true angel of God, Kenneth Lee Draughn was born on May 2, 1968 in Rockford, Illinois. God truely did make him special because of his magnetic personality and his beautiful smile. You felt special just being around him. As he was with everything, Kenneth was very passinate about life, love, family and the Lord! He was the most positive person I have ever known in my life and if he loved you, he loved you with a passion and like there was no tomorrow. He always use to say, "There are two types of people in this world, those who say their going to do something and those who do it". That was another thing about this wonderful man, he was so intelligent. He could think of things on his feet, I wouldn't think of at all and if I did it was to late.  He was always trying to teach me how to be that way, to be strong and not let anyone take advantage of me or us. I wish God would have given us the opportunity to grow old together so that we could have watched our children grow up and have children of their own. Kenneth was a firm believer in the Lord and felt that when it was your time to go it was your time to go. God had to have a plan for this beautiful angel!
Kenneth grow up in Rockford, Illinois where he lived with his mother, step-father, his stepbrother, and two sisters. He was always an activity child with the imagination the size of three men. Kenneth would often create self-made experiments and take apart things to see if he could put them back together. Kenneth truely was an extraordinary person from birth. Kenneth was very active in sports as a child, winning several Physical Education Awards from R.K. Welsh Elementary. With a long tall skinny athletic build, Kenneth was made to play sports! Not only was Kenneth very athletic, he also was very intelligent. At a very young age, Kenneth was very analytical and thought well on his feet. Kenneth was also a part of the School Safety Patrol and received several awards for his participation in the program.

As time went on, Kenneth's family moved to Pennsylvania were he attended Gettysburg Junior High School and Delone Catholic High School.  At both schools, Kenneth participated and excelled in Football and Basketball. He rounded out his skills and truely showed his intellect by becoming part of the Delone Catholic Novice Debate team and the National Forensic League. Kenneth was award a football scholarship to Shippensburg University, but after a brief stay in Shippensburg decided that he was a Penn State Nittany Lion at heart. Kenneth transferred to Penn State and played football for the Nittany Lions as a deep safety.

Kenneth went on to excel in many different areas in life including family, football, music, skiing and of course academics. Kenneth's goal was to become an attorney. A goal which I am confident he would have reached in his life.

Kenneth and I met at Penn State in 1995 and became friends. I know right away that he was different than anyone else I had ever met. He made me feel so special and I was always happy around him with a warm feeling inside. Needless to say, Kenneth and I know we were soulmates and married in 1996. Life was not always perfect. But through love for each other, love for GOD and overcoming the negativity of others,  we made it through. I know we would have grown old together had this horrible tragedy not taken him from me.

I wanted to give special thanks to Janet Hardman, my mother, for all of her support. Without her I would not have kept my sanity. Also Jerry Menfee, Kenneth's best friend, who checks on the kids and I, as a true friend would.
