"Gloria has a cabinet of sacred cows!"-KMP

The left-leaning Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) lambasted the Arroyo administration for keeping a cabinet of sacred cows. According to Danilo "Ka Daning" Ramos, secretary general of the group, "this practice of Gloria has a high negative effect on the credibility of the regime. Not a few of her most trusted men are embroiled in different cases ranging from malvesation of public funds to human rights violations. The most prominent of her stooges are of course GM Winston Garcia, former Usec.Jocelyn Bolante, Luisito Lorenzo and Sec. Angelo Reyes,"

"All of these characters are involved in morally degrading cases and yet they are all still in the president's cabinet, some of them were even promoted," added the peasant leader.

Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) General Manager Winston Garcia is involve in a P5.5 million cash advance controversy, while former Department of Agriculture Usec. Jocelyn Bolante, is still embroiled in a plunder case amounting to P728 million in the fertilizer scam.  While Luisito Lorenzo is involve in the P7.8 million diversion of funds from the DA to use for his jet trips and luxurious living. DILG Sec. Angelo Reyes, on the other hand was implicated on the Mindanao bombings as well as the torture of suspected Abu Sayyaf members. He is also involved in corruption cases in the AFP.

As for his part Carl Anthony Ala, public information officer of KMP "the moral ascendancy and drive to pursue real change and progress of the Arroyo regime is really put into question. GMA's herd of sacred cows may become a big factor for her eventual downfall,"

"These juicy positions are being used as a reward by the administration to keep its men closer and well compensated. The regime seems oblivious of the cases brought against its men, then how can it claim that it is sincere in working for progress and justice?" ended Ala.# # #
