"NOLCOM on a rampage,
killed another peasant leader!"-KMP
The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas
(KMP) decried the continuing violence inflicted by the Northern Luzon Command
(NOLCOM) on leaders and members of people's organizations in Central Luzon
and now it reached even Northern Luzon.
According to Danilo "Ka Daning" Ramos,
secretary general of KMP, "Romy Sanchez, is the 13th victim of summary
execution by the NOLCOM in a span of 2 months, the last of whom was Tarlac
City councilor Abel Ladera, who was laid to rest yesterday. Also in the
same period 5 forced disappearances have been recorded and the suspects
are also from NOLCOM, the last is Danny Macapagal, former secretary general
of BAYAN,"
"The NOLCOM it seems is too afraid to
confront the New People's Army that it is targetting unarmed, legal and
legitimate organizations critical of the administration. Gen. Romeo Dominguez
is now applying the tactics used by now Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan in Mindoro.
These martial rule tactics are highly illegal and very cowardly, we are
mulling charges against them," added the peasant leader.
"Now with these killings the NOLCOM and
the regime wants to stifle the legitimate demands of peasants and other
suppressed sectors. They are planning to wipe out the legal organizations
advocating real change. With this developments, did Gloria already declare
martial law?" ended Ramos.
Romy Sanchez was a staunch peasant leader
and was a member of the STOP Exploitation organization in the Ilocos region,
a regional chapter of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP). He was
shot yesterday at 5pm in Baguio City. # # #
