The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) lambasted Brig. Gen. Jose Angel Honrado, chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) Civil Relations Service, for saying that the peasant organization as well as a slew of others as fronts of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), and that these organizations should prove to them that they do not deal with communist rebels.

  According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of KMP, “Gen. Honrado would be laugh at, in any court if he presents this argument. The accuser has the burden of proof, any court of justice can attest to that. His statements as well as the “Knowing your Enemy” CD is an obvious ploy of red baiting and is geared to demonize critics of the government. It also set us up as targets of attacks. This can be seen in the light of the spate of killings of activists,”

As of latest count 29 activists have been killed in the first quarter of the year and 5 were forcibly disappeared.

“It seems that “Knowing your enemy” leads to the scenario of killing your enemy, in this case activists and individuals working for social change. The CD as a senior ISAFP agent would attest is a product of amateur agents sowing disinformation. It is also a vain attempt to divert attention from government troops’ atrocities,” ended the peasant leader. # # #
