The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) lambasted the AFP for presenting a ‘doctored’ version of the ‘Knowing your Enemy’ CD to the media yesterday. According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of KMP, “ the AFP is obviously hiding something by presenting this edited CD. They are now downplaying the issue, and trying to gloss over the fact, that what they named were whole organizations and not just individuals. They are obviously setting us up for further attacks, considering that 29 activists have been killed since January this year,” “Also as reporters could attest, the edited CD did not contain the names of party-lists groups like ANAKPAWIS, BAYAN MUNA and GABRIELA, but in the original version a whole section is dedicated for the discussion of these party-lists, and it is contained from slides 176-190,” added the peasant leader. As for his part Carl Anthony Ala, public information officer of KMP, “the names of Bayan, Migrante and the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) are also there, contrary to what they showed to the media. The military is projecting us, as enemies of the state, but as things are turning out, they are being exposed as enemies of the people,” “The copy of the CD we have, has 335 slides all in all and runs for about 2 hours while the presentation made by the military to the media runs for just about 1 ½ hours” added Ala. “This CD has become more of an instructional
material for state agents and as well as a black propaganda tool against
legitimate people’s organizations. It also strengthens our claim that indeed
that it is the military, the police and their para-military troops with
the blessings of Malacanang are the ones conducting this systematic attack
upon us,” ended Ala. # # #
