The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) challenged Susan Roces to be a real alternative leader against the corrupt and anti-people Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. 

According to Ka Willy Marbella, deputy secretary general, “everybody knows that Gloria cheated in the elections but her cheating machinery is so vast and she is the incumbent that it would really be hard put to show conclusive evidence. Even if someone does come out to prove that Gloria did cheat, he could easily be eliminated by the regime, as what happened to Marlene Esperat, ”

“The issue now here, is that is Madam Roces worthy of the people’s support? She should now really standby their side, espousing their every issue and fighting for their cause, like genuine land reform, just wages, free education and health care. These are the demands of the masses, if Madam Roces does not embrace these as her own problems as well, then she will be no different from Gloria,” added the peasant leader.

“At this point in time the election issue is not that important anymore. The demands of the people are the primary issues that would make or break the regime and as things are going the Macapagal-Arroyo regime is nearing its end. The people can no longer bear the suffering Gloria, has inflicted upon them.  It is only a matter of time, when Gloria will be ousted,” ended Marbella.
