“We will advance the peasant struggle to a higher level!”-KMP

The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) vowed to advance the peasant struggle to a higher level during their recently concluded national council meeting and in lieu of their commemoration of International Peasant Day.

According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of the group, “we have just successfully concluded our second national council meeting after the sixth congress. It has been very fruitful and we have set the framework on how we can further intensify the peasant struggle in our country,”

“Even if the repressive state has now launched a vicious attack upon progressive organizations which cost us a number of our comrades, we will honor their sacrifices by continuing with the struggle and defeating the regime’s attack. We will defend the rights and gains that we already won, and we will move resolutely forward to gain more for the advancement not only of peasant interest, but the whole nation as well,” added the peasant leader.

As for his part, Ka Willy Marbella, the newly appointed internal deputy secretary general of the group, “from all indications, because of the intensyfing crisis of the rotting semi-colonial and semi-feudal Philippine society, the attacks of the regime will continue and will be more rapacious, but we are prepared for this and we will not be cowed into silence. This is the aim of state-terrorism and if we become silent on what it is doing to us and the populace then it would have already won,”

“The KMP would not be cowed and we will continue to carry the banner of militant peasant struggle not only in our country, but in the whole world. It is only through this can we achieve genuine land reform and national industrialization,” ended Marbella. # # #
