The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) revealed that the recent massive military operations in Camarines Norte and Quezon that caused the forced evacuation of hundreds of peasant families and numerous human rights violations is contained in the controversial CD Knowing the Enemy. According to Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of KMP, “ it seems that the military justified the military operations by saying that they have a fix on Communist Party of the Philippines spokesman Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal’s location as well the harassments being done by the New People’s Army to the military detachments in the area, but in effect the military once again targeted the civilian population which caused mass evacuations, and mass illegal arrests, even the fact finding teams who went to check what was really happening was illegally detained by the military,” “This is really alarming, as can be seen by the military response to the contents of the CD and legal organizations are also being lumped or connected to revolutionary groups, as well as the AFP’s track record of rampant human rights violations, it is no wonder that it is the prime suspect in the killing of political activists,” added the peasant leader. Meanwhile Carl Anthony Ala, public information officer of the group said ‘the supposed location of Ka Roger is contained on slides 169 and 170 of the Knowing the Enemy CD and it is stated as follows: KR Loc 1 08-27 Jul 04 Brgy. Bagong Silang, Tagkawayan, KR Loc 2 27-30 Jul 04, Brgy. Casispalan, Tagkawayan, KR Loc 3 27 Jul/ 16 Aug 04,Brgy.Tunton, Tagkawayan, KR Loc 4 17 Aug., Brgy.Bukal del Gallego and if military intelligence is to be believed they are saying that they are able to track him,” “But the point is this, if this is the
response of the military on the subjects of the Knowing the Enemy, then
it is not long in coming that open fascist rule will be implemented in
our country and the primary targets will shift from armed combatants to
legal political activists as what is happening today. It is also the reason
why up till now Malacanang has refused to issue a categorical statement
condemning the killing of political activists, because as can be seen it
is its own policy,’ ended Ala. # # #
