The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) issued this warning amidst the controversy surrounding the jueteng issue that now opened a new can of worms regarding the selling of plum police posts. 

According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of the group, “the PNP has reached its bottom and it is at its all time low, because of the greed of its top officials. It now shows how rotten this institution is. Actually we have reason to believe that the high-ranking police official who was alluded to in the Inquirer report was one of the recent PNP chiefs of staff, considering that he was already a high-ranking officer then so it is but natural that he wants to be at the top by buying his way into the position,”

“This relative of a top government official seems to have his hand on everything illegal and immoral happening in this country. He is like the devil incarnate, sowing discord and mischief among the Filipino people. It will not be long that he will be a major factor in the downfall of his relative,” added the peasant leader.

Meanwhile Carl Anthony Ala, public information officer of KMP, said that “ after police posts maybe this relative will sell the presidency to the highest bidder and this country will be turned into a Jueteng Paradise. But as it is a thorough, independent and comprehensive probe must be done to get to the bottom of this jueteng controversy. We are calling for an audit of all the assets of police officials from the provincial commander to the chief of police, also to be included are government officials from the congressmen to the senators and from the baranggay captains up to the President herself. This lifestyle check should start from the President, then downwards. Let us see if they are really clean and can live up to their anti-jueteng rhetoric,”

“According to her Statement of Assets and Liabilities President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has only P6,530,193 in 1992,but in 2002 ten years after, she already has P72,010,722.88. That is P65,480,529.88 in ten years, the president seems to have really been busy in government and getting rich at the same time,” ended Ala. # # #
