Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) - Peasant Movement of the Philippines

“Gloria, now just full of hot air!”-KMP

The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) issued this statement at an unusual protest action in the University of the Philippines Diliman Sunken Garden, where the group together with its allied organizations PAMALAKAYA and the National Network of Agrarian Reform Advocates-Youth Sector (NNARA-Youth) flew hot air balloons with the slogan “Go Away, GMA!”

According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secreatary general of KMP, “Gloria, is now reduced to being like a balloon, she is full of hot air. Essentially she is now officially a lame duck president and her silence regarding the Gloriagate scandal will only worsen her status,”

“She can talk all she wants of how the country’s economic fundamentals as being sound or how foreign investors are to flock into the country or how she  is working to uplift the country, but the bottom line is no one beleieves her anymore and she is just wasting her voice on useless prattle.  What she must do is use her voice to answer the only question Filipinos wants answered, is it her voice on the Gloriagate Tapes?” added the peasant leader.

Meanwhile Carl Anthony Ala, public information officer of the group said, “this protest is just one in a million creative ways to oust a repressive regime and there are a lot more coming. This is in stark contrast to Gloria’s unimaginative and pathetic attempt to call all the scandals and issues being brought against her administration as a destabilization plot. It is really a pitiful cover-up story to obscure the true essence of the issues hurled at her,”

“The administration has used the destabilization plot excuse so rampantly and has harassed all whistleblowers and witnesses that nobody is taking the Department of Justice seriously anymore. It has become more of a specialized lawyering agency for Malacanang. Surely DOJ Sec. Raul Gonzales, will be one of the hardest hit when Gloria is booted out from the Palace,” ended Ala. # # #
