The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) warned Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo that before the month ends she might not have any ally left to defend her. It is due to the fact that major sectors and powerful institutions in Philippine society are one by one now asking Gloria to resign.

According to Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of KMP, “this week we witnessed key government allies called for Gloria’s resignation or abandoned her camp, the likes of Rep. Roilo Golez, Rep. Clavel Martinez and Department Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap already jumped ship. In the next weeks cornerstones of the administration will signal the wholesale exodus to the people’s side,” 

“Just yesterday the UP College of Law faculty, one of the best law schools in the country called for Gloria’s ouster. Next week the influential and powerful Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) will hold its biennial election, and will issue its unified stand on the Gloriagate issue, but based on initial pronouncement of key bishops, they will call for Gloria’s resignation,” added the peasant leader.

Meanwhile Carl Anthony Ala, public information officer of KMP, “it is in the light of this eventual wholesale withdrawal of support, that there is a currently spreading text message which states: “UNVERIFED INFO BUT HAS RING OF TRUTH> The ARROYO family is already planning to leave with their ill-gotten wealth! HSBC Bank insiders say that FG closed a peso savings-checking acct. containing PHP 486 MIL and a US$ account containing 317,000 last Monday June 27. Isn’t this moro-moro exile d best excuse”, what is Mike Arroyo doing in Hong-kong anyway? What kind of exile is that?”

“But if indeed the Arroyo family is planning on escaping their accountability in the crimes they have committed then everything must be done to stop them. A hold departure order must be immediately issued on the whole First family; they should be punished for their crimes especially Gloria, Mike and Mikey. Gloria should resign but she should not escape, or else the pursuit of justice against them would not be complete,” ended Ala. # # #
