“Military mass leave should be done now!”-KMP

The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) issued its support to the young military officers who are threatening to take a mass leave or mass resignation due to the massive discontent in the military ranks caused by the allegations that some generals meddled in the 2004 elections.

According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of KMP, “this is really a welcome development and this shatters government propaganda that the military is solidly behind the Macapagal-Arroyo administration. This also illustrates that the great divide between the military ranks is developing very rapidly and the officers closely identified with the administration are increasingly becoming isolated,”

“But for this to have immediate and smashing political impact, the military officers should do the mass leave or mass resignation immediately. As of now four groups of military men are prepared to take action to oust Gloria from Malacanang, but are committed to civilian supremacy and are just waiting for a signal. The mass leave could serve as the signal and will have a ripple effect across the AFP all throughout the archipelago,” added Ramos.

Meanwhile Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of the group said, “indeed the military has become a very politicized organization but this transformation should be for the benefit of the majority of the people. This should also be used to struggle for the just demands and democratic rights of soldiers who are used as cannon fodder while their generals line their pockets with the people’s money. Now the prostitution of the military has come to the fore because of the Gloriagate scandal,”

“Generals Esperon, Kyamko, Gudane, Lomibao and the others should immediately be placed under preventive suspension and court-martialed if necessary,” ended Marbella. # # #
