"Police fears unfounded"-KMP

The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) chided the police for having second thoughts on supporting calls for Gloria's ouster because the Left would be part of the transition council.

According to Danilo "Ka Daning" Ramos, secretary general of the group, "why do they fear us? Don't they know that we were the first ones who called for the ouster of Gloria because of her anti-peasant and anti-people policies and what we are pushing for are in the interest of the majority. We are pushing for the immediate scrapping of the E-VAT, the Oil Deregulation Law, the EPIRA,and the pull-out from the WTO, as soon as Gloria is ousted and we are working on more substantial issues like implementation of genuine land reform. These measures will definitely alleviate the plight of Filipinos. Now why are the police afraid of these?

"Another point is that again the police is obscuring the line between the legal and democratic mass movement and the revolutionary, underground armed movement. It seems that they are also confused of the concepts of the transition council and the democratic coalition government. The transition council as the name implies is a tempopary formation composed of the major forces who actively participated in Gloria's ouster, while the democratic coalition government that is being feared by the police, is the government structure already existing in the countrysides at least on the barrio level composed of the basic sectors of society and guided by the CPP,"added the peasant leader

"The police should get their facts straight and not resort to the usual red baiting," said Ramos.

Meanwhile Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of group said, "also we do not think that the ranking military officer is speaking for the whole PNP because up to now, 4 large groups of military and police personnel are still willing to join the people in our ouster call and they are just waiting for the right time. They also are prepeared to act if the regime uses violence against the anti-Gloria protesters in the upcoming SONA,"

"As for the threat that if the Left will become a part of the next government, the PNP and the RAM will act to stop this, then it will be a direct contravention of the people's will and should not be supported," ended Marbella. ###
