Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) - Peasant Movement of the Philippines

“Roco’s death, like that of Sin is very untimely!”-KMP

The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) expressed its condolences to the family and friends of former Senator Raul Roco who passed away early today. According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of the group, “like the death of Jaime Cardinal Sin, Roco’s demise is very untimely considering that our nation is undergoing a very critical period in our history. His political acumen and legal expertise, which would have been an asset especially in the impeachment case against Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, would surely be missed,”

“Senator Roco also saw it fit that Gloria should resign her position, so that the country could move forward. With this call he is one with the Filipino people and amplified the ouster and resignation call against Gloria,” added the peasant leader.

Meanwhile Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of KMP and also a Bicolano said, “Sen. Roco is considered by many Bicolano’s as one of the region’s finest sons and also stood up for the rights of our countrymen during the dark days of martial rule,”

“His death will truly leave an empty space in many Bicolanos’ hearts!” ended Marbella. # # #
