The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) revealed that the P 728 million fertilizer scam used by Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to fund her campaign caused the Filipino people rice that is enough to feed the whole nation for two weeks for free.

According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of KMP, “this is really an outrage and the pro-Gloria congressmen wish to hide this by blocking the impeachment case. More than 7,886,684 cavans of rice was lost because of Gloria’s cheating and it caused farmers P4,500 per 0.5 hectare for fertilizers if we multiply this with the target 151,667 hectares which is the target area then P682,501,500 was the debt incurred by peasants, (1 bag of fertilizer is worth 3 cavans of palay at P440 per cavan)”

“Also the normal rice consumption of the Filipino nation is 29,000 MT of rice per day, if we divide this by the 394,334.2 MT then this would amount to 14 days. Not only did Gloria, steal the elections she also stole food from the mouths of farmers,” added the peasant leader.

Meanwhile Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of the group said “this should be known to the public and the pro-Gloria congressmen should stop blocking the impeachment case because this would only further inflame our desire to oust her from power. # # #
