The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) exposed the increasing monitoring and harassment to the point of political assassinations being done by the dictatorship of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo against militant and progressive organizations.

According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of the group, “we would like to inform the military and the police that we are also monitoring their moves. We are watching the surveillance teams who are watching us, and we know their actions. If anything happens to any and all of our leaders and members, we know who are responsible,”

“Counter-surveillance efforts is now very necessary on our part to safe-guard our ranks against abductions and political killings perpetrated against us. As of late 8 leaders of BAYAN MUNA, ANAKPAWIS, KMP, and KMU have been killed in Central Luzon at least 3 in Southern Tagalog, and several others in Visayas and Mindanao. We believe that there is a third wave of killings perpetrated against us which is part of the undeclared martial rule under Gloria,” added the peasant leader.

Meanwhile Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of KMP, said, “here in Manila our offices are being closely monitored by agents of the state. Almost every day unmarked vehicles park in the vicinity of our offices and their occupants are always looking suspiciously at our office, texting away, who arrived and who left the premises,”

“Harassment calls and communication surveillance also became intensified since the announcement of the calibrated preemptive response. When we use our phones in the office, we would always hear another phone being raised to listen to our conversations. The frequency of prank and harassment calls also multiplied these days. A caller even said, “die you communist sons of bitches”, while another would just hang up the phone when we answered it,” added Marbella.

“With all these harassments we will still continue because when we get intimidated then they win in stifling the real voice of the people,” ended Marbella. # # #
