Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) - Peasant Movement of the Philippines

“Political killings may reach National Capital Region, if not stopped!”-KMP

The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) aired this warning in lieu of the recent spate of killings in Central Luzon, which caused 5 lives in a span of less than 48 hours.

According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of KMP, “Central Luzon has become the new killing field of Jovito Palparan, who heads the 7th Infantry Division. There can be no doubt that he is the one orchestrating these killings, with the blessing of Malacanang. He is doing this to cripple the militant mass movement and spare Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo from sharp criticisms from our ranks. But he is mistaken if he thinks that this will work. We have devised ways to preserve our forces but still continue our work,”

“In Central Luzon being the center of these murderous attacks our chapters have resorted to  “guerilla tactics” so the military would not have a fixed target to monitor. Our operations will continue, but it would be mobile. As for our leaders in the local as well as the national level their escorts will be increased and their routines will be changed,” added the peasant leader.

Meanwhile Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of KMP said, “We have also received reliable information that the military is now targeting national leaders of militant organizations. If this happens then we have only Gloria to blame and her  “policy of annihilation” towards her staunchest critics,”

“To fight this growing threat, we have heightened our alert level as well as our counter-surveillance measures. Suspicious looking individuals and vehicles are quickly noted and if necessary investigated. Curfews are strictly implemented. Death threats, harassment, and monitoring calls are also carefully listed down and analyzed. These are just a few of the measures that we undertaken to protect the lives of our activists and leaders so that we can continue our struggle. Also, these measures would ensure that when we point to Malacanang, the AFP and or the PNP as the culprits it is based on hard and concrete evidence,” ended Marbella. # # #
