The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) lambasted Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for issuing statements tantamount to declaring war on media. 

According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of KMP, “Gloria’s scathing speech yesterday at the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) assembly is like Bush’s jingoist line saying you are either with me or against me. Gloria is essentially picking a fight with the Fourth Estate, blaming it for her bad image,”

“The people do not want winners as Gloria would like to project herself, what we want is the truth. That is why we are thankful to media outlets that continue strive for the truth, they should not be cowed by Gloria, if that happens then the bully in Malacanang wins,” added the peasant leader.

Meanwhile Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of KMP said, “Gloria is effectively isolating herself from the people and all institutions of democracy. She is getting cocky and thinks that her administration is stable enough to attack her critics and even the media who is just the messenger of these criticisms,”

“Gloria seems to be bent on having it her way all the time that she rabidly attacks anyone and anything that opposes her even if their point are valid, even if what they are raising is the truth or maybe especially if it is the truth, just to keep herself in power. This is an excellent formula to her doom” ended Marbella. # # #
