“Luisita massacre may happen again!”-KMP

The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) and the Alyansa ng Manggagawang-bukid sa Asyenda Luisita (AMBALA) aired this warning at the first anniversary of the Luisita massacre.

According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of KMP, “we have been receiving reliable reports that the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) and the men of Gen. Jovito Palparan are preparing to launch an attack on the main gate picket line of the United Luisita Worker’s Union (ULWU) and Central Azucarera de Tarlac Labor Union (CATLU). This is the exact same spot where the Hacienda Luisita massacre occurred. The military’s plan is to launch the attack like that of the dawn abduction they conducted against 11 strikers at the Brgy. Balete picket line last November 14,”

“For weeks now soldiers are spreading the information that they would attack and disperse the Gate 1 picket line. Recently more and more harassments have been done against the strikers the most brutal of which is the October 25 slaying of CATLU president Ricardo Ramos,” added the peasant leader.

Rene “Ka Boyet” Galang, president of ULWU and AMBALA, echoed Ramos saying “After the political assassination of Ka Ric, we have documented many harassment cases like the November 10,mauling of 17 year old Erwin Lumibao by soldiers in Brgy. Balete. The military has also set up checkpoints in Brgy. Balete on the same day, inspecting all vehicles allegedly looking for someone, as well as releasing another order of battle containing our names. Then came the November 14, early dawn abduction of 11 strikers in Brgy. Balete,”

“The military is also looking for me as well as other leaders of ULWU, CATLU and AMBALA. We have reason to believe that I am their next target for assassination. We taken preventive measures against this but our struggle continues,” ended Galang. # # #
