The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) challenged former President Fidel V. Ramos, to be true to his word and withdraw his support from Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo if she does not clarify her stand on the “no election” (no-el) scenario or declares her support for it. According to Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, secretary general of KMP, “FVR’s January 1 deadline has already lapsed and from all indications Gloria would fully support No-el, the former president should now be true to his word or forever be taunted as being as wishy-washy as Gloria. FVR’s honor as a former head of state and a military man is what is at stake here. What remains to be seen is would FVR defend his honor against Gloria who obviously just used him and House Speaker Jose de Venecia for her to remain in power,” “The political fireworks are about to start early this year and when the dust settles we think that the Philippines would have a new leadership. FVR should now side with the people or be relegated to the dustbin of history like Gloria. If that happens he would be nothing more than just a Gloria lackey and be incarcerated with her,” added the peasant leader. “The Anti-Gloria forces are now swelling and consolidating its ranks. We are to begin the First Quarter Storm offensive in just a few weeks to oust the hated regime and we peasants would be at the forefront of this fight, we have had enough of Gloria and we do not want another year of her corrupt and fascist rule,” he stressed. “Another year of the Macapagal-Arroyo dictatorship
would spell disaster not just for us farmers but the whole nation as well,
so as early as now we are preparing our ranks for an all out battle against
Gloria and her hordes. January 20 is the date to watch for this will set
the tone for a year of protests ” ended Ramos. # # #
